Citta alta meets (and exceeds) most expectations one may have about a mediaeval town: cobblestone streets, towers (often built to demonstrate wealth and influence), atmospheric cafes and bodegas, stunning views of...
... a visit to the cathedral churches, a cup of coffee in a tranditional cafe and use of the funicular to be transfered to the castle on the highest spot of La Citta Alta which provides a panoramic view of Bergamo.

Mind blowing views from this beautiful tower in Bergamo from here you can see all the different sites and stunning mountains but the best bit is overlooking the rooftops

I visited at 3pm and it was wonderfully quiet, so suitable to solemnly view the tombs, medieval furnishings, frescoes, mosaics and of course, the Roman Domus.
Another beautiful and incredible site in the quaint old city - just one of a million treasures in this treasure trove!

take the second cable car up to the top and the view is amazing, great for photos, couple of nice restaurants/bars with spectacular views.
The castle itself is pretty typical, but it's high on a hill, and if you take the steps to the top you'll be rewarded with wonderful 360 views.

Whilst it is obviously not as huge and magnificent as many of the other sites afforded by the city, it is a real pity more is not made of it's history and that it does not have its own placard.
