I had looked at various shops on Murano island without much success but was able to find gifts for pretty much everyone to take back home to Australia at this shop on the Burano island
We were in Burano for a week and my daughter became a regular visitor and fan of this friendly, family-run glass shop where you can see a lot of the stock being made right in front of you.

... come across L'artista Della Barbaria when we were researching responsible tourism in Venice and we were so happy we traveled "off the beaten path" to meet Giancarlo and his wife, and to see their beautiful shop!
It's slightly off the main shopping streets, so the prices are good, with clear indication of which masks are local and hand-made.

I was delighted with my purchase, a most beautiful ring of the highest quality craft men ship and I would highly recommend visiting this shop if you want the best handmade quality jewellery in Venice.
Once I found it I was richly rewarded by beautiful jewelry and an extremely friendly jeweler (one of the brothers who own the store) who explained to us that his specialty is cameos and coral/local stones.

This small museum is a bit off the beaten track but well worth a visit to see the fine painting of Carpaccio and his St. George scenes.
The main attraction are the four spectacular Carpaccio paintings which dominate the ground floor walls and viewers can spend hours working out their own interpretation of St George slaying the dragon.
