- RP-NetherlandsWemeldinge, The Netherlands1,144 contributionsThe lake is one of the biggest vulcanic lakes in Europe. The water is crystal clear, and even though it is very deep, the temperature is nice for swimming. At Bolsena town there is a small beach wich a parking lot and a small harbor. There are also a few restaurants and cafe's on the lakeshore. Most of the time, it is peaceful and quiet, which is great for a huge swimming pool in a warm climate. The town of Bolsena is also well worth a visit and an extra reason for visiting the area.Written October 29, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Thomas OzbunVicenza, Italy982 contributionsThe Collegiata di Santa Cristina, was built during the 11th century with a 15th century facade. It is famous for being the site of an Eucharistic miracle, known as the Bolsena miracle, which took place here in 1263. The church is a mix of Romanesque and Baroque features with an interesting cave-chapel with 15th century frescoesWritten January 21, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- vinceproSan Diego, CA8 contributionsThe walled community of Monaldeschi was prestine and breath-taking. The age and construction of the castle structures were inspiringWritten February 13, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

A beautiful city with a well-preserved medieval historic center. The city maintains and displays its Etruscan roots with pride, adorning pillars, doors, and gateways with clay etruscan statuettes.
Wandering around the city, you will encounter sites to visit and little interesting shops.
I was, however, disappointed by the lake front walk. The promenade is constantly interrupted by restaurants and cafés. This would be okay, except that the pathway disappears and you must walk on the street with cars. There's no clear beginning or end. A missed opportunity.
Worth a visit and wander in the centre if you're in the area.Written April 17, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Jacqueline Farr-HallLondon, UK5 contributionsWe did just two legs of the via Francigena (either side of Bolsena) and have pledged to do more of it. Wonderful wanderings and wildflowers.Written July 1, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Lars HFrederiksberg, Denmark5 contributionsKind of odd experience, but very cheap if you buy ticket to the castle towers anyway. The kinds find it very interesting and funny, and it was nice to see wat'øs actually is living in the lake, we so often swimmed in. 1 -2 hours if you also visit the museum and the tower.Written August 13, 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- SteveageRexburg, ID3,269 contributionsI would say to avoid the castle and everything in it. I actually think we paid more than 5 euros per person. The view from the top of the castle wall is nice, but not much better than the free view all around the castle. This museum, and I read everything in museums, has so little in it! The signs were not informative, look at my pictures, they don't even date the few artifacts that are here.Written February 17, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Gregory GFrisco, TX433 contributionsAbout an hour drive from Rome, beautiful volcanic lake Bolsena! The breeze from the lake and volcanic soils allow for the production of wine you cannot get someplace else. The hosts are charming. Please call for appointment.Written July 6, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- marcopolo111Cleveland, Oh2,824 contributionsThis is a nice beach on the large lake of Bolsena which can be reached with a 5 min detour from the via Cassia. Worth going for a view of the lake and may be for a drink at the local restaurant.Written July 20, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Careful criticBucks285 contributionsA basalt rock outcrop left after volcanic upheavals and now visible just outside Bolsena. A remarkable rock formation. It is very well explained on the signboards at the site and reminded me of the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland (although the latter is somewhat more impressive).Written September 28, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- yankeeromeMontefiascone, Italy131 contributionsLove this wine. Definitely worth a visit to this winemaker. It is not an outlet but the store of the wine maker. Nice people, good prices. And wine made in the traditional biological traditionWritten January 15, 2012This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

We had the place to ourselves....a hidden gem!Written July 23, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - deukerensBulgaria234 contributionsBasically a walk around the side of the lake. The path is more a road, but in places poor quality, but the views across the lake are good. If you are interested in ornithology the lake has has a rich variety of birds.Written January 15, 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
