Many thanks to Jane & Alf for a very informative & interesting tour of the lighthouse.

The tour takes about an hour and involves a climb of 130 steps to the lamp room. However there are a couple of stops on the way to break the journey & rest your legs.

The tours are run by volunteers and are currently only available on the first and third Sunday of the month.

The lighthouse was built in 1763 as a non-flashing lighthouse and on the tour you learn about the history of its former occupants, its renovation and how a non-flashing lighthouse functions.

    Entry was £3 per adult.
It has a free car park.
Tea/Coffee and biscuits are available to purchase.
    Lovely views from the top.

The rock comprises both the old Fort and a most impressive lighthouse at the mouth of the river and Liverpool Bay.
