Beautiful historic Earl’s Palace is perfect for a walk even on a crisp winters day, there’s plenty of information on what this historic place and worth the visit
This Earl's Palace is right by St Magnus Cathedral and is a rather lovely ruin with good interpretation boards but above all preserved well enough to envision how people lived there.

At Rogue Trippers, we do a lot of exploration of abandoned buildings, historic ruins, and urban exploration (UrbEx), so visiting these 2 palaces was without a doubt - a must-do for us in Kirkwall.
Opposite the Cathedral the mix of palace and castle styles of architecture are fascinating, the remains are quite extensive with great views from the top.
