Folkestone is very lucky to have this wonderful playground. Entering the Coastal Park either from the Sandgate end or the Folkestone Harbour end, the park is beautiful in itself, with picnic spots dotted around, and some stunning plant displays. The playground is roughly in 4 parts. 1. A pirate ship. 2. A large climbing web. 3. A network of wooden climbing frames, bridges and towers, with two zip wires. 4. large sandpits with equipment. The park is just above Mermaid beach, and the Mermaid Cafe sells very good quality snacks. There are toilets within the park.

Clearly money and time are being spent on renovating the old platforms, and the surrounding goods yards, to make it a food, and a art hub.

It is easy to see the history of both the station and harbour.

A visit in season and on a fine day would show of the work and allow you to enjoy food and drink whilst watching the sea or looking at the exhibits rather than a cold wet day in March!

Loved this walk along the sea, lots of different levels you can access to get to the stoney shore. Well worth the walk.

Quick efficient boarding, we were early and no problem in getting on an earlier train. Cost wise, it’s not bad. Definitely the best way to travel if you’re going to north France with a car

It is really nice to see the hard work that has been put into re-developing this area. Hilly small cobbled streets with a variety of shops and cafes. Still a bit more work needed but some nice shops with an artistic feel.

This a lovely walk especially if part of a circuit of the town. It zig zags all the way to the beach, unfortunately all the heart of the seafront has now gone and there is now a big monstrosity being built. The harbour is still lovely but a shadow of its former self

Great show from Paul Carrack and band!
The covid measures on arrival don’t make sense.. we had to do digital temp check which is fine I suppose, however those with double jab stays - straight in. They could be carrying covid 19 as we all now know, and passing it on. If we must have such measures at least let’s think them through ..!

So popped down there on a very sunny November afternoon.

The paths through the scrub had been cleared and the steps were clean. Just a bit of mud here and there.

The view of the Martello Towers was good.

The view out to France was simply stunning.

    Big ships, lots of them.

    Big sky.

    Big sea.

    Big colours.

Big opportunity to fall in love with a view.

Went here over weekend. In addition there was a military “living history “ event with equipment and people dressed in period dress and uniforms. This added something we were not expecting and added to the day. The railway museum has a fantastic model and display around the channel tunnel project. I think it was part of original visitor Center which closed down. A signal box where you can use phones and levers. Another building with railway artefacts. A large static engine as well as a mini railway with ride. Ideal family day out with friendly staff/ volunteers. Easy parking and refreshments. Location what3words

Afterwords we drove to the view point. View point to look over the channel tunnel complex

Nice tea room and play area for the children as well as accessible toilets. Flowers are always nicely maintained too and the park looks cheerful and bright. The only criticism is the amount of dog mess.
Duck ponds are nice to look at too.
