- Sheena T1 contributionVisited Wentworth Woodhouse for the first time last week with my husband. What a hidden gem and so close to home. We did the Black Diamond tour with Jo and Hazel. Jo knew so much about the house having lived there when it was a teacher training college and told us so many fascinating facts and made the tour so interesting. Thank you Jo.
My husband struggles with his back and Hazel found him a folding chair to sit on, she carried round for him to use as he needed it. Thank you Hazel he appreciated that.
After the tour we had a spot of lunch in the cafe which was excellent and good value for money.
We intend to visit again when the rhododendrons are in bloom.Written March 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Only one little niggle the park ride staff to be more cheerful or maybe more acting elves .
But a big thank you Clifton park .Written December 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The walk took us to some places we had not seen before. The village is unspoilt, a real estate village as you can tell as all the doors are pained green. There is a small post office, tea shiop and pub, two lovely churches, the old one especially worth a visit. There's a nearby garden centre, but the cafe there is always busy. Wentworth Wodhouse is a short walk away too, and worth a visit.Written January 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sean H2 contributionsLarge park which has an array of things to do from walking to water sports.
Very friendly and pleasant staff, a small cafe, gift shop and a very large water park which hosts many different water sports.
I was there to launch my own stand up paddleboard. The changing facilities are pretty basic but adequate. You can hire wetsuits and all the equipment required if need be at a cost but I had all my own.
My biggest grumble is the pricing, £1 per hour to park upto £6 which I find is reasonable, however, to self launch its £11, remember this doesn't include equipment hire or anything, it's literally for the right to use the water park. It's meant to be for the day, only giving a discount to £7.50 if you turn up with a few hours before closing.
These prices seem OK if its a one of use but if you intend to use the place regular it starts to mount up.Written March 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. As it is one of the lesser-known and visited Abbeys, it was quiet and peaceful. Set in a lovely spot, with a stream running through (with Medieval waterworks intact) this cistercian abbey had the remains of many Monastic buildings.
The remains aren't quite as well preserved as other abbeys, but they are in good order and give you an idea of the scale and layout of the site.
There is a small gift shop on-site with helpful and enthusiastic members of staff.
Only slight downside is the lack of information on the site itself - so you need to purchase a guidebook.Written August 4, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We all found the whole experience to be excellent and all the kids /adults had a really enjoyable afternoon. Our host grace was magnificent, she connected really well with all the kids and clearly had love for all the animals.
A great experience, highly recommended.Written July 18, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The building itself is impressive and pricing of items in the cafe was reasonable so this was a positive. As for the rest of the experience unfortunately it is in need of a facelift. Some of the objects weren’t working and there was no members of staff around to help guide you as to how some of the interactive objects worked. It’s a real shame as this could be a really useful education space for kids, but it really does need a facelift and some refurbishment to bring it back to life again.Written March 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Neil R MRotherham, UK45 contributionsI visited both the Archives and Museum at Clifton Park, and enjoyed both. The museum had an interesting display of Rotherham history, including some good Archaeological finds, particularly the prehistoric items. There was a large exhibition of local Rockingham Pottery and a temporary exhibition called Dishes of Rotherham, examining recipes from previous eras. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable.Written January 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Tony S12 contributionsIt all depends on what you want from here. If it’s a lovely walk around a Great Lake and wildlife in abundance then this is for you. However check with the place and if they answer your phone call you will be able to find out what the council have shut down this week for a couple of weeks. - Neil R MRotherham, UK45 contributionsGood value, especially for a family. As a transport museum a number of the exhibits are being restored at any time, which means some are not accessible. It would be nice to see some more historic exhibits.Written September 16, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lee T1 contributionI spent a couple of hours here today. Janet and Steve were excellent; they took their personal time to show me around and educator me about the building. We discussed it’s current status and future. It was a very worthwhile experience and when I’m next visiting from the USA I’ll be sure to visit again. Thank you.Written January 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- AmySheffield, UK316 contributionsNot much to see as it's literally a short walk around the lake but it's a nice stroll. Plenty of parking for a small charge. We usually have extend the walk through some nearby fields.Written March 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
