I was there with a big group in February 2022 and it was so spectacular. The inside was incredible and can’t believe we have something this beautiful in Norway. We had a private tour with a student that was studying to become a pastor, and he gave us an excellent and a ones in a lifetime experience. We got to see secret rooms, the roof and close up of a lot of the places inside. So thankful for this experience and I recommend everyone that visit Trondheim to see and learn about this incredible cathedral

Hey it’s beautiful and it is free. Grab your walking shoes, and make your umbrella and go for a walk and explore this neighbourhood. Pretty houses, historic and some cool coffee shops and bars along the way. We really enjoyed this area.

Enjoyed this inexpensive tram ride from St.Olavs Gate up through the suburbs to the lovely wooded hills and lake at Lian. Bought ticket for 3 hours travel on the tram for a few pounds but it's cheaper to buy online. A marvellous view on the ride and a beautiful walk at the lake.

Free little attraction to have a look at. Was amazing to see that it has been preserved so well. Easy walk from downtown. Have a look and grab some photos.

When I came here, the fortress itself was closed for renovations. As a result, I couldn't actually enter the building but was still allowed to walk around.

The view was great. On a clear day, you can see for kilometers, and see all of Trondheim. The cannons scattered around the fort are all well-maintained and cool to see.

This museum was the highlight of our visit to Trondheim. It makes no difference what your taste in music is, this place is fascinating. You can only go through it on a booked tour which you can organise via the website. Our tour was 90 minutes including a short recital. Our guide was so enthusiastic and demonstrated many of the collected instruments
There is also a rock and roll museum elsewhere in Trondheim which we didn't visit but which is highly rated rockheim.no

Visited on a weekday during the Autumn season when opening hours were 10-15:00. It’s an impressive attraction thanks to the extensive outdoor museum, showing different life-sized replica buildings from different regions and periods across Norway (some of which are open allowing the interior to be explored). The buildings are nicely spread out across the grounds such as a farmhouse, housing stead, storage warehouse etc. There is a family trail too which can be explored on the theme of Norwegian fairy tales together with some wooden sculptures. This is all done amongst the beauty of small a lake, hilltop and rolling grass lawns, all which is well looked after.

The outdoor element also comprises of a viewing point over the old Sverresborg castle ruins, which in itself offers compelling vistas of the surroundings. If this wasn't enough there is a old town too, with different town-houses with interiors reflecting different time periods although mostly focusing on the early 20th century. This covers a smaller outdoor area but like a town is much more compact and fuller of ground floor interiors to explore in the bank, dentist, pharmacy, sweet shop etc.

To explore the outdoor area fully it took me close to just under 3 hours although you could take all afternoon. On arrival you are presented with a map so can be more selective if you are short on time by choosing areas of interest. The farm for example has livestock on weekends making it ideal for children to visit. Being in the autumn not all buildings were explorable, some being locked but I was still surprised at the number of buildings open to explore, if mostly only the ground floor.

They had a large interior exhibition about life in Norway as social history of life-cycle development from baby, child, teenager, adult, elderly, and finally death. It showcases key parts that have changed such as more women working in the 21st century compared to early 20th, growth of technology in farming and industry, changing attitudes of death away from burials and mourning to cremation and celebration of someone's life. It’s a nice exhibition, lots of display items if a bit easy to get lost going round. There is a large children's soft play area in there too.

The shop is well stocked and extensive. They also had some products which I didn't spot at other attractions in Trondheim making a browse worthwhile. The café was popular although I didn't try this. Toilets were clean and they have an open plan coat storage area with a few to the side lockers (the one I tried had a fall through bottom however).

If I come back to Trondheim this would probably be the first attraction I'd visit, it really is worth it!

This is a beautiful nature reserve just on the western edge of Trondheim with easy public transportation access. Lian Tram stop is a 5-minute walk away. I definitely recommend a visiting in early October as I saw just about every autumn shade possible!

Bymarka is actually quite large, much bigger than how it appears on a map, all surrounding a large lake and more. Lay of the land is all mostly flat land with a few small slopes at points. It took me under an hour to walk round the nearest lake to Lian at a leisurely pace stopping at several beauty spots take some photos and feed the ducks. Being a popular recreational area there are several pathways you can take round (off and on the beaten track). Doing so could take you right near the water’s edge if you wanted, or deeper into the rich forests surrounding.

There are footpath signs to help direct you round if you need it. Also present are a few wooden benches at open spots overlooking the lake. One side of the lake there are a few small information boards that explain the development and history of the area. Nearer Lian the vegetation opens up to a larger grassy area suitable for a small picnic, there are not any bins round that I saw as you are expected to take your rubbish home with you. Very peaceful with few people about early in the morning.

Great if you love norweigan rock music. Less so of you only really know Ah Ha! Takes you through the norweigan rock decades from 70s onwards. Even a black metal section. Get to listen to lots of bands and instruments. Very interactive.

This was included in my ticket to the archbishop's palace, cathedral, and treasury. I am glad it was because it magnified the already great return on investment.

The artifacts begin with the Vikings, with displays of axes, swords, spearheads, etc. Continuing on, it goes through the Middle Ages with an immense display of swords, suits of armor, handcannons, and other weaponry. All of this took place on the first floor of the museum. Just this floor made the time worth it, but it only got better.

The next floor was all about WW1 and WW2. The number of guns, uniforms, propaganda posters, mortars, and machine guns was incredible. It was fantastically done, and you were able to learn an enormous amount about Norway's involvement in WW2. There was a lot of readable information that was interesting and informative. But, there were some (a lot) really bad typos in the English. You could still read it, but a lot of them were pretty funny.

I'd 100% recommend a visit here, whether you both the combined ticket or not.

We stopped here with a guide to learn about the history of this palace. While we did not go inside, the grounds were spacious and near downtown.
