Our cruise ship was docked in the fjord for 2 days. We did a one and a half hour electric cruise around the fjords in Oslo. It was very quiet but also extremely slow which was a bit frustrating. And the other people on the cruise were very noisy so it took away from the beautiful views. watching fjords for the two days, show that this area is vibrant and extremely busy in the harbour area. There are massive fairies going to other countries and smaller fairies going to the small islands it’s very interesting to watch

I took Bus # 30 to visit this attraction. The street is narrow and our bus had to wait for the big tour bus to pass by becore we could proceed.

There are many sailboats docked at the left side as we drive by. The neighborhood appears to be for the wealthy as most houses are big.

I visited 3 museums here: Fram, Kon-Tiki, and Maritime Museum. The views behind the Fram and Maritime Museums are beautiful. There are some statues of explorers near the FRAM Miseum. There are areas to watch the boats in the water, a cruise ship, etc.

A truly spectacular place if you're a nature lover. Beautiful lake, lots of waterfowl, a peaceful place to clear your mind or enjoy a break from the city. Wonderful for running as well.

This was a really enjoyable walk through the heart of Oslo. I couldn’t decide from the various reviews which end of this river was the best starting point, so as I was staying in the city centre I started at that end and walked up as far as Nydalen. For the first section as far as the Labour museum (also worth a visit but only open at weekends) I had the benefit of the excellent Voicemap app, which provided lots of useful information about the area’s industrial past.
It’s impressive to see what a great job has been made of rehabilitating the river, especially bearing in mind the quantities of industrial waste that have been poured into it over the years. I was sorry not to have time to walk the entire length, but it was a very easy journey back into town on the metro from Nydalen.

Enjoy the nearby restaurant Østmarksætra. (/Oestmarksaetra)
Was there in the wintertime round Christmas.
But be sure to make reservations first. It might be pore booked for some celebration.

Either you're out for a jog or a walk, the atmosphere and vibe along Akerselva is very good. Also, Akerselva is a salmon rivee, making Oslo one of the very few capitols in the world who boasts a salmon river running straight through it.

I would definitely recommend this place for an evening stroll!

I live right by the pathway that goes along the most beautiful river. I take walks or jogs along it several times a week. It's very peaceful and great to have such a lovely wood right in the middle of the capital. The entire path is 15km long (turvei D10), you can take the tube to Grorud T-bane and walk all the way into town.

This lake is not far from the city center by bus & you can walk through the forest to reach the farm & the cafe. It is a big area where you can relax, enjoy your coffee & the great landscape with family or friends! Totally worth a visit!

You need a car to get to Øvresetertjern with kids. It will take you a good 25 minutes to drive up, almost to the top of Tryvann. The ride is scenic, looking over Oslo, passing the Holmenkollen skijump, and the stavechurch-style Chapel.

Once you're there, you'll find it's just a easy to be at place. During winter, Easy slopes for skiers og sleighs, an easy, beginners downhill set of slopes as well.
Summertime locals go swimming in this lake, and the water is very clean.
It is possible to walk to here too. Reckon 15 minutes by foot from Voksenkollen or Frognerseteren subway station.
Don't think there are much facilities, kiosks or toilets. But that's the Norwegian charm - when in nature, you're in nature, and have to bring along what you need.
Many locals arrange outdoor birthday parties for their kids here, lighting bonfires, grilling and playing outdoors. Even wintertime... Even during the really cold weeks...

I went to this beautiful place early in the summer. It is a perfect place for barbeque with friends, a stroll with friends or your dog. A friend and I had a nice walk to Vettakollen via Båntjern to Sognsvann. It was a very nice walk, giving us the feeling that we are far from the city. However, if you take a walk during the summer, beware of the mosquitoes. I got quite a few huge mosquito bites…

This was the highlight of our Oslo trip! Yes, a very close first competing with Aker Brigge. For me, this captured the REAL essence of Norway. It's pure beauty. Lutvann is a nature reserve, Its a huge area of forest, set in the middle is a secondary reservoir, but man, what a beautiful lake!
So we had with us two 9 yr olds, a 6 year old and two 2 year olds, and 4 adults. We went for a trek through the Haugerud area, but if I did this again, and if you have little ones, I would recommend going to the end of Haugerud veien, parking the car, and walking through to the lake.

We walked through for about 15 mins. It was a great hike.. we stuck to the cemented track, and then had to go off road towards the lake. It was such as lovely walk, we followed the track singing "we're going on a bear hunt!" It was a lovely summers day, warm but not roasting. By the lake it gets windy and much colder, so I would recommend taking sweatshirts/jumpers, as we walked around the lake, it was JUST breathtaking.. The view of the lake, with the forest all around, and a backdrop of mountainous forests, was simply awesome. My kids just stood with me, and we looked across the water and felt truly humbled.

We followed the track around the lake, saw ducks and reeds on the waters edge, and other children with parents too. Until it opened up to a little area. The lake actually has a little beach to it! Kids were there already, making sandcastles, and some were butt naked in the water!

Such a lovely atmosphere. There was a bench for picnicking, which we did. There was also an area where you could barbeque! We sat on the rocky edge, while the kids played. We were only there for 2 hrs, to give the kids a little respite from the walk back (we had been walking all the way from Haugerud which was a 25 mins walk with little kids! Not so much for adults. About 15 mins.

I wish we could have stayed longer.

It's a very quiet spot, that only the really close locals know about. It's a real gem.

Can't wait to go back! And the highlight of the kids' Norway visit. Me too!

We got on a standard Oslo bus to take us to the car park drop off point for our walk to Oyungen Lake (I think we were still in Zone 4 on the bus route, therefore no extra cost for us).
The bus journey was smooth and comfortable, taking in the Norwegian countryside. Locals seen walking, running, cycling (and cross country skiing on the main roads using skis on wheels) all over the place. We got to our drop off in about 10 minutes on the bus (from the closest outskirts of Oslo to this lake).
At the carpark drop off, there were many people either darting about doing sporting activity or off camping with their rucksacks for the weekend. We walked uphill straight away towards Oyungen Lake, at a leisurely pace.
A lovely walk on good wide paths. Clean and tidy all the way. Trees, rocks, moss, lichen, rivers and fresh air en-route. Once at the lake I was impressed by the dam stone work, the picnic areas and the general views. The winter's sunlight was gorgeous. Peace. The lake was calm and the blueness with the sky / lake mix was special. Just require more benches to sit on and have your food together, if not on the ground it is and make a camp fire by the rocks.
I've heard that at summer this place is packed. The half way mark, by the lake, took about 30 minutes to walk to...not far. I'll be back.
