No joke!!! when you walk over this bridge. It sways back and forth. There's a real troll than lives underneath and tries to annoy people and spill their togo coffees....Go there and try it out....But hold on tight!!!

Passing Hausmanns gate as the sunlight faded it was wonderful to see the bridge with the sobriquet of Fairytale.

Admiring the sculptures, one in each corner, the reason for the alternate name was clear.

Each art work was inspired by a Norwegian folktale, such as Per Gynt the legendary deer hunter. Inspiration for the other three was Veslefrikk med fela, Kari Trestakk and Kvitebjørn Kong Valemon.

They are marvellously dynamic and were created in bronze by Dyre Vaa in 1937.

The current bridge was made of granite in 1926 and replaced a wooden one from the 1870s.

Akerselva was tranquil and looked lovely as the sun descended.

Along the scenic Akerselva this is one of the most unique bridges. In cast iron chains it was one of the earliest suspension bridges in Norway.

It was completed in 1852, but not at its present location in Oslo. It was first placed over the Drammen River at Ã…mot in Modum.

It was only in 1952 when it was being replaced due its deteriorating structure that it was given to Oslo. It was dismantled and reassembled here.

A cautionary inscription on it says 100 Men I can Bear, but Fail during Rhythmic March.

Compared to similar in other cities the symbols of eternal affection here are somewhat sparser. Large sections of the bridge are unburdened with locks.

It’s a pleasant crossing of the Akerselven through a lovely wooded area.
