What travelers are saying
- Nigel TLeicester, UK62 contributionsOne of the highlights of a recent visit to Oslo. If you want to see how people have lived over the centuries this is a great place to come. Loads to see, an excellent cafe and all reasonably priced. Once the new Viking Museum moves to the site this will be a very full day's visit but even more worthwhile. As a further bonus the boat trip across to Bydgoy and the local scenery are fabulous. Highly recommended.Written August 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- RYC88Centreville, VA1,265 contributionsYou can't go in the castle, but it's a nice walk around the bastions and you get a great view of the harbor and there's no charge to walk the grounds. There is a little museum at the visitor's center which told about the queen who had lived there to give context. The Norwegian Resistance Museum does have an entrance fee, but the way everything about the Norwegian resistance movement is presented with dioramas and papers and documents is really well done and worth the admission price. There are guided tours during the summer, so you should check the website for the timing.Written July 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Traveler OWashington DC, DC887 contributionsThe exterior of this building is quite ugly and looks brutalist in nature - Soviet type design. Entry is free, you just have to go through the security scan to enter. Upon entry, you can walk around in the main hall which has interesting murals and is a huge, airy space. It's also where they award the Nobel Peace Prize. Worth taking some pics.Written August 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - aspoe093Pierre, SD616 contributionsBeautiful area and great looking palace. When we went we had just missed the changing of the guards but to my surprise the king and queen came out and watched a military show. Pretty amazing and the gardens are greatWritten August 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- aspoe093Pierre, SD616 contributionsLoved this place. We took the ferry over and it was a beautiful day. Hiked around the island for a bit and then went into the fortress. The fortresss does a great job of telling the story of the importance of the fortress. Awesome place and awesome piece of historyWritten August 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- colkopLiverpool, UK75 contributionsIt is important for everyone to be aware of the events of the 22nd July and to remember the innocent victims who lost their lives.
The Information Centre ensures that we will not forget.
The filmed interviews with the survivors brings home the terrible events of that day.
The most moving section is to see the photographs of the victims and to be reminded of how young they were and the future that was snatched away from them.
May they all rest in peace and may we all remember their sacrifice.Written April 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Deb WReno, NV2,552 contributionsI liked the statue in front of the hall. Inside there are many restaurants to choose from. We didn't eat here but it was good to see.Written September 11, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- niksk001Philadelphia, PA795 contributionsOscarshall is a very nice historical place to visit. iI may not have a very deep history being about 150 yo, but still creates a very special environment, In addition to great Gothic architecture, you may enjoy a very nice garden, Oscarshall is worth visiting.Written August 16, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - WJKCGOslo, Norway71 contributionsThe Bishops old house and garden is now the location of a beautiful cafeteria. Arriving from a hectic city street into a quiet and calm nice garden, the place offers both something for the soul and something for the tummy. They only serve pizza (plus a few tapaslike dishes), but they do it so well! This is one of the best pizza places I have been to in Oslo. The service is polite and efficient. They got one pizza made for children and a broad menu to choose from with more interesting versions than the ones you find everywhere. Personally, I also like details like serving the Pepsi max in a wine glass rather than the ordinary milk glass. Can truly reccommand this place. This visit can also be combined with a sightseeing tour, which starts from this garden.Written August 13, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - delagioventuLuxembourg City, Luxembourg1,317 contributionsMaybe they could do more with this. I was a little bit disappointed as the information is a bit haphazard. The only room which is exciting is the one with the screens about all the Nobel price winners for peace.Written April 6, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - permiaIreland40,176 contributionsA pleasant greenery close to the sea and with a large lake around which is a relaxing walkway.
It is notable for its remnants of Medieval life. Best of these are the ruins of St Mary’s Church and the Royal Residence.Written August 10, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It takes you back in time, imagining the people who were here socializing. I will always remember this place and it's beauty!Written September 7, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
