- LK LeungHong Kong, China15 contributionsVery lucky to have visited on a sunny day. About 1 hour drive + ferry ride from Tromso. It offers epic views on a clear day, and much less crowded than the city. Snowmobiling tour or skiing tour with guide strongly recommended, as the best scenic areas are off-road. It is also worth to spend more days in the area for exploring on foot. Do note that weather can change rapidly or deteriorates quickly on any day, so always check the weather and avalanche forecast before heading out.Written April 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Janvi05London, UK4 contributionsIt was simply an experience that I will never forget. Nelsen brought so much enthusiasm and energy to our chase for the northern lights. Coupled with photo opportunities at the location before dusk (Skarsfjord), fire, food and stories from Nelson, we witnessed terrific northern lights that I will never forget. Nelson was so sure of the weather forecast that he got it spot on. Nelson’s knowledge and experiences played a part in allowing us to see the lights. Patryk, our bus driver, was equally important as he made our journey smooth. A lovely evening under the lights!Written April 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Karthik A1 contributionLucas took me and my wife on a private tour looking for the northern lights around the fjords and nearby islands from Tromso. He was very knowledgeable about the phenomenon and quite courteous. Our tour came with a meal and photographs both of which were excellently done. They were able to accommodate for our dietary preferences as well. He knew where to stop and chose locations that were both picturesque and less crowded. Overall we had a wonderful experience!Written April 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Stephanie B15 contributionsSnowshoeing with our guide, Martin was awesome! It was a workout but there were people with varying fitness levels and the guide does a great job taking breaks and making things fun. We started by feeding the reindeer which was so cool!! You really see some personalities and it was a fun experience. The snowshoeing is for anyone as long as you’re willing to work for it! Views were incredible!Written February 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- XstephwilsoXManchester, UK81 contributionsWe booked on this tour as part of our 5 day holiday in Tromso. It’s always been on my bucket list. The morning didn’t disappoint. Very well organised, lovely friendly people and an amazing experience with the huskies. You get a bit of time before you start to meet them and give them a bit of love, and they are so friendly! Beautiful scenery during the sledding and the dogs just love it. Perfect morning finished off with coffee and cake.Written February 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Eat.Stay.PlaySouthern Queensland, Australia23 contributionsWOW, what a journey we are a family of 4 from Australia and as dog lovers we decided to do the guided Dog Sledding. We where picked up In Tromso by there very comfortable bus and transported to their facility, from the moment we arrived they are straight into it like a well oiled machine. They promptly had has dressed in supplied boots and overalls to keep you warm and had us in the sleigh and off on the journey. The trail they took was majestic such beautiful views. On arrival back at base you are invited to sit down around a fire and are given warm drinks and a meal before boarding the bus for the return journey. Between returning from sleigh ride and meal there is ample time to spend with the dogs to pat them and give them thanks for all their hard work. If I could give this business a higher rating I would. Thank you to the wonderfull staff for an amazing experience.Written April 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MontyDenbighshireDenbighshire3 contributionsMy friend and I booked two NL tours with Dan following a recommendation going back 10 years ago. We were informed that he was very professional and knowledgeable back then and clearly that has not changed. Dan went above and beyond to make sure his guests had the best experience and his expertise in hunting out the Aurora paid dividends both nights. I had a slight hiccup with my own camera and Dan was able to correct the issue as he’s also an experienced photographer. Although I took many of my own photos, he also shared his own wonderful shots which we received promptly the following morning. I can’t praise Dan the Aurora Man enough. A huge THANK YOU from two very happy ladies from North Wales 🙏🏻😊Written April 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cyndi4 contributionsFar exceeded my expectations. We had a small group tour and our guide was Antonio. At the beginning of the night, he told us they had not seen the lights the night before and the forecast was for heavy clouds but he remained hopeful that we might see something. We set off to a location he suspected might be good. An hour into the drive, he stopped and checked the forecast. There had been a change in the data and Antonio was more confident we would see lights if we could find a break in the clouds. So he changed plans and headed to a different location. Upon arrival, there was a large tour bus on the side of the road hoping to see something there. Fortunately, we were in a 4-wheel drive van and Antonio was able to drive down a steep, icy road to the beach. Minutes after handing out our winter gear and hot chocolate, he spotted some faint lights. Over the next 30-45 minutes lots of light appeared all over the sky! We got excellent photos. It was a night I'll never forget! After about an hour, the light faded and disappeared. Antonio built a fire and we had homemade vegetable soup and roasted marshmallows. It's a night I'll never forget! I appreciate Antonio's willingness to stay flexible and find the perfect spot at the perfect time.Written February 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Magda UgovnaBologna, Italy11 contributionsWe spent a whole week in Tromso chasing the Northern Lights with different tour agencies but the tour with Trina of Friluftsenter was absolutely amazing. Despite the horrible weather she did REALLY EVERYTHING to chase the northern lights, she never gave up and took us all the way to deep Finland to give us the most beautiful and surprising aurora ever! But it was more than just a tour, Trina told us so much about Norwegian culture, their customs and traditions. It was a journey in search of the northern lights but also a journey into Norwegian culture. Trina is a very very nice and amusign person! She loves her work and does it from the heart, and this can be felt in everything she does and says. Thank you Trina for giving us this incredible adventure! - Rachel S2 contributionsThe guide was very knowledgeable and even though our trip didn’t seem promising he talked to us about being patient and waiting for the lights. On our 3rd stop we glimpsed a small green patch and then were treated to a fabulous show! So well worth the wait in the cold, a dream come true.Written February 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tania RKolkata (Calcutta), India51 contributionsWe booked our Fjord Tour from Best Arctic directly from their website a month before our visit to Tromso. Best Arctic as the name suggest was really best tour operator in Tromso. As per guideline people gathered 20 mins earlier in the lobby Raddison Blue. Best Arctic has a cute office there. We were given Pink bands to wear as many day trippers of various activites were also present. We waited when our tour guide Juan came up and took all the tourists for boarding the Red Bus. Next started our journey through Tromso. Juan is a nice chap and is very kind and knowledagble about the nature around him. Our driver was a local named Katharina who was really nice and warm person. Juan guided 14 of us always answering our queries, taking our pictures and also sharing little trivias of the fjords we visited in Kvaloya and Sommaroy. We were provided with proper bathroom break and were taken to a fisherman's cabin up in Sommaroy where we had our lunch. The landscape outside the cabin was just breathtaking. Thank you to Juan and Katharina for the hospitality and also to local person ( whose name I have forgotton sry) of Sommaroy whose cabin we used.
People do come for NL in Tromso but people should also take this tour to see how beautiful Northern Norway's landscape is.Written March 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GoPlaces02729223992Buenos Aires, Argentina1 contributionWe had high expectations for our visit to Tromsø and they were better than expected. Silvia and Vidar organized two amazing excursions. It was a great experience, thanks to the beautiful landscapes they showed us and especially the love they put into what they do. We will surely hire them again to see the northern lights.Written July 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
