This is a must-do if you are in Tromso. Whether you take the steps up or the cable car, once you reach the top, take the time to hike away from the main viewing platform for some spectacular views of Tromso, the hills, fjords and even flights landing and taking off from Tromso airport. The hike itself is through hillsides filled with berries! We also got really lucky with the weather. It was just gorgeous! Ticket prices for the cable car are definitely on the steeper side which is the only downside.

It’s not a large museum but it has loads of nice exhibitions (sea animals amongst others). It also covers a lot of the polar exhibitions from Norway (Amundsen and Nansen), which might be interesting for some to dive deeper into. For the children the stuffed seals might be fun to look at, but it’s probably more interesting for older children overall with all the readings and history.

Perhaps the high price is to help finance the expansion. Seal shows may be good for kids. Glass tunnel under the seal tank. We liked the pond with a variety of fish, and the interactive display with details about each fish. Also enjoyed two movies on the panoramic screen: Aurora and Svalbard. Wish the movies were longer. Hope they add more movies about the Arctic in the future.

The museum came highly rated to visit, and for most of the exhibition it was quite informative.
A bit of a mix between geology and history which was not expected.
However we spent about 3.5 hours in the museum, and the staff were quite helpful.

We were there on a tour with The Green Adventure, really beautiful place and nice beach. We will never forget this arctic picnic in this village.

We went in one winter night to try and catch the auroras. No luck with such cloudy skies but we appreciated the serenity of the place, and the fact that they have benches to sit on, especially that Aurora chasing can take hours and the ground is icy wet.

Had the most fun at this science centre with my boyfriend. The exhibits are great for kids and adults who are young at heart. We had a lot of time to explore the activities with very few other people around and then enjoyed the magical show at the planetarium which explained all about the Northern Lights and gave us a pretend experience incase we didn’t see them in person.

Very lucky to have visited on a sunny day. About 1 hour drive + ferry ride from Tromso. It offers epic views on a clear day, and much less crowded than the city. Snowmobiling tour or skiing tour with guide strongly recommended, as the best scenic areas are off-road. It is also worth to spend more days in the area for exploring on foot. Do note that weather can change rapidly or deteriorates quickly on any day, so always check the weather and avalanche forecast before heading out.

We didn't know what to expect at the Troll Museum, but we thought it would be an interesting place to visit so we gave it a shot. We were surprised at how interactive the experience was from photos with virtual trolls, to interesting history and details that I never knew about trolls or about Norway and its authors. This is worth a visit!

If you are staying in Tromsø and the sky is looking clear this is one of the darker places you can go to see the lights without leaving the island. It was a half hour walk (uphill) from the centre of Tromsø. The roads are really well lit but shoe spikes might be advisable.

I was really lucky as got to experience an hour of ever changing lights the night that I went.

It was nothing really special. But nice to look at. Did not go inside. Looks very neat during the day with the sun etc. Stands in the middle of the village.

Nice bridge linking both sides of the town, only takes about 15 minutes to walk across, I did it in winter and had no issues.

Views are nice, on other side is artic cathedral and cable car, so important bridge to the town and people.

Spent a rainy afternoon in Tromso reading in a cozy nook. The library is massive and so well lit. The views on one side are lovely and the whole place has a warm, welcoming ambience. Saw several folks sitting and working away on their laptop and there was also a kids section downstairs to keep the little ones entertained. There’s also a cafe though we didn’t try it out. Perfect if you’re a book lover and have a few hours to spare in Tromso and looking for something chill and relaxing to do.
