- XstephwilsoXManchester, UK83 contributionsWe booked on this tour as part of our 5 day holiday in Tromso. It’s always been on my bucket list. The morning didn’t disappoint. Very well organised, lovely friendly people and an amazing experience with the huskies. You get a bit of time before you start to meet them and give them a bit of love, and they are so friendly! Beautiful scenery during the sledding and the dogs just love it. Perfect morning finished off with coffee and cake.Written February 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - alexanderedwardc201726 contributionsI did 2 activities with Best Arctic - the self-drive dog sledding experience out at Camp Tamok and the Aurora Safari. Both were excellent and highly recommended. We were lucky that the snow just arrived a day or two before we arrived so that might have helped , but it didn’t change the fact that both were great.
For the safari, we were in and out of a minibus for 3 hours, trying to get to places where there might be views of the northern lights . We were taken by driver Andreas and guide Kinga who was great - her passion for the lights was infectious and she gave us wonderful insights into the lights and who she ended up in Tromso.
The dog sledding was truly a bucket list experience for me. There were 2 of us to a sled with 4 dogs pulling. We spent nearly 2 hours on the sled and it was tiring, and funny, and exhilarating, and wondrous to glide through the woods, pulled by these magnificent creatures. When we got back to the camp, we spent some time with the dogs and met some just puppies too. Just amazing. Thanks to Sarah, our guide, who had to rescue some of our party members who were struggling to control the sled dogs occasionally, being dragged along through the snow - a story that we recounted with much laughter over a hot chocolate later on!Written November 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. She was lots of fun, very knowledgeable, and kept us up to date regarding sighting chances and weather conditions.
She was brilliant at explaining how to set your phones & cameras to get the best pictures. It was lovely to have a bonfire with hot chocolate and cake under the northern lights.
Such an enjoyable and unforgettable evening.Written November 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. On our 3rd stop we glimpsed a small green patch and then were treated to a fabulous show! So well worth the wait in the cold, a dream come true.Written February 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Katrina FEphrata19 contributionsTook Polar Girl from Longyearbyen to Pyramidon last Monday. The tour is a whole day, but wow every part of it is just breath taking. Driving out of the fjord heading to Pyramidon is beautiful. The tour guide has the best personality. She was literally born for this job. Whoever hired her, smart decision. She kept us updated on everything we were doing or seeing throughout the day. She answered every question. She helped dock the boat and even looked out for wild life to alert us. When we arrived in Pyramidon we were told there were 2 polar bears sleeping towards the back side of town. We were greeted with a bus that took us in to town to start the tour. We got to tour some of the buildings learning lots of history. Our tour guide lives there all year round. He made sure we stayed safe while letting us see a glimpse into the passed. The last building had a bar and we did 2 shots of vodka to celebrate our polar bear sighting. We were far enough away, but could see them through our binoculars. make sure to take a pair to see wild life from afar! After we departed we were served a warm seafood soup and bread. We headed toward the glacier. It was so blue, a blue you can't ever discribe. The boat did a few turns so we could so it from all directions before turning for home. On the way home we saw a seal and whale. There are blankets and coffee/tea on board. Beer is available for purchase. The ride home is a little long. I covered up with a blanket and had a short nap. We arrived back at the dock at 7pm. I will forever be grateful for that experience! Highly recommend!!! Thank you to the tour guide! I can't say enough about her! Best wishes on your wedding coming up!!!Written October 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Hunter GKolkata5 contributionsMarcus and his team were wonderful start-to-finish.
The best part about working with them was how much they cared. Prior to the trip, they answered a lot of my personal questions. While on the trip, you could tell they cared deeply about giving us the best possible experience.
For us, this meant driving hours into Finland in order to get past the snow clouds, which had covered 6 for more than two days.
We stopped numerous times in order to hunt for the best possible lights.
Other highlights include:
- Great food
- They take photos for you
- They have extra gear, but please dress warm
- Friendly staff

The air ribs get up really close to the whales and engines are turned off so as not to disturb them. Highly recommend!Written November 12, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MikeDublin, Ireland8 contributionsWe spent some time kayaking a Fjord outside of Tromso. Fantastic guide, fantastic equipment, great experience. We have some prior experience with arctic kayaking, and were not disappointed. There were a variety of experience levels in the group, but all were made to feel comfortable. Not for the faint of heart: this is very cold, at times a bit windy. Would recommend a bit of athleticism/kayak experience. A great company. My only regret was that our trip to Tromso did not allow time for back country skiing with Arcitc Wild. Very nice group of people.Written January 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ambassador3724054 contributionsLucky enough to have a sunny day out. All passengers stayed outside for the most trip. The woman talked about information the whole time and friendly answered questions. We saw the best view with snow cover. - samsungnotefrancis1 contributionWe went with the Opal Schooner electric sailing boot to go whalewatching. This boot does not make noise which distrurbs the whales and produces no stinking diesel exhaust. Quiet and clean trip. We were also very lucky to say whales and orca's. Beautiful trip, nice people.Written February 7, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ericzanesSan Diego, CA101 contributionsHad the occasion to tour the Fjords of Norway into the Arctic circle this month. Took an excursion in a RIB excursion boT dressed in Dry Suits. We ventured out into a fjord where the outfitter had already set a net with bait. We pulled up the trap to some 12-15 large red Arctic king crabs. Leaving the females and one large male we went onshore to a small old looking hut. There the remaining crabs were cleaned and the legs steamed for our lunch. Inside the cottage it was prestige and set with formal table settings. Lot’s of memorabilia on the walls. One did not need any butter or sauce with this crab as it was very sweet and plentiful. We got about an hour of history, learned about this crab and the industry and a great meal. Took the boat back to the harbor and called it a day. A great time with great food, fun and adventure. If you were crabby before you came here, one surely had a smile when we left. Highly recommend the experience. Enjoy!!Written May 23, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
