Vienna is such a warm and vibrant city. Its’ charm comes from its historic palaces, churches and museums. Today we toured the Albertina Museum with works from the modernistic artists such as Chagall & Picasso.

We attended a performance of Haydn's The Creation in this magnificent cathedral on a Saturday night. It was fantastic. To imagine that human hands created this monument to God is truly awe-inspiring. My husband and I are from small old towns in New England where we have little white churches with little white steeples. This place is a long way from home. So beautiful. Visiting the cathedral to hear Haydn is the right way to do it.

What a beautiful spot. I was amazed that the gardens (except the small privy garden) are free to roam around in. Schönbrun is, of course, one of the busiest tourist spots in Vienna. However the park is so big, do full of places to sit and just relax that it doesn’t feel as busy as it is.
I thought it was really heavenly place to sit and read and have some real quality time. Brilliant.

Looks like a church but is actually the town hall. The Neo-Gothic building was built between 1872 and 1883. Free guided tours are available Monday, Wednesday and Friday, at 1 p.m.

The main plaza is a very busy place. With St Stephans Catherdral as the backdrop, it is surrounded by shops and many souvenir stores. If you are lucky you might see a pianist perform on a grand piano right in the plaza!

The unique architectural design of the building makes it a standout attraction. Its proximity to Prater allows visitors to conveniently combine both visits, making for a memorable and efficient day of sightseeing.

Beautiful church, and I was fortunate enough to catch an organ recital by Mario Eritreo - sumptuous. Much more peaceful than the nearby cathedral.

One Monday morning back in September we went out of our way to go over to the Naschmarkt to explore what they had to offer. It's quite a long, thin market area with many permanent stores offering food, football shirts, souvenirs with a plethora of cafes and restaurants. We weren't looking for anything in particular but we took a fancy to the stalls selling olives and dried fruits. At one stall we decided to try some of the olives being offered to sample and came across a very insistent young man who tried to talk the hind leg off a donkey to us. We agreed to buy two types of olives but were shocked when we grabbed two large handfuls and asked us to pay well over 30€. No way. He seemed to get a little belligerent. Me too. My wife eventually intervened and we compromised by buying two tiny bags full which still cost 12€. Wow!

At one end of this market there are more places selling fish and seafood. I was particularly impressed with the kiosk/shop selling caviar - a kilos worth costing nearly €4.00,00. Who has that in small cash for a casual visit to a market?

We did stop and have a drink at one of the many cafes here but left thinking that the prices in Vienna are way higher than we'd expect back home in Germany.

The area is very busy on arrival with a buzz around all the activities taking place at the Ratshaus. The building is outstanding and the area is worth a visit

Huge cemetery. If, like many, you are only going for the famous composers then depart the tram at tor 2 and enter, you're only a 5-10 minute walk. Strauss, Schubert, Beethoven, Brahms all in the exact same plot. There is a memorial to Mozart but this is not where he is buried. Also on the same plot is the grave stone featured on the front cover and video for Vienna by Ultravox. 10 minutes walk from here you will find the grave of Austrian pop star Falco and it's clear how adored he was/is. Fascinating experience. You could aownd hours walking around I am sure, we went just for those I've mentioned. Probably about 40 minutes on the tram from the centre but we'll worth it.

This grand boulevard surrounds the historic center of Vienna. If you have about 1 1/2 to 2 hours you can walk around and see all the sights.

Lovely, peaceful garden. We came here for a picnic and also had a wander round looking at the various statues and monuments.

A magical place - I couldn't recommend going in the lead up to Christmas enough. Yes, everything is a little pricey but that is to be expected. For food, I would recommend Andy's arancini and the funnel cakes .. incredible! The ferris wheel is lovely and offers a great view of the market. Ice skating Is great fun. Would 100% recommend!

Strolling the historic Vienna city center, walking through the Graben pedestrian mall on our first day of our first visit to this beautiful historic city, we were taken by the sites along the way. The street is lined with such high-end retailers as Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Longchamp, Montblanc, and Chanel. Check out the Art Nouveau style of the LV and Chanel buildings. So grand!! The Plague Column (Pestsäule) is a stunning memorial erected as a mercy column to ward off the 1679 plague epidemic. Check out the ornate entrances to the public restrooms nearby. Take your time to look at the details!
