What travelers are saying
- M M2 contributionsWe saw penguins, amazing!!! There are signs guiding you. Visitor can easily see which animals are at which direction. Be careful to ask the driver to leave you at the zoo entrance. Otherwise you will have to walk for 20 minutes through the royal gardens. Wonderful walk but not practical of you are in a hurry with 2 kids!!!Written April 11, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- SelloyLisbon, Portugal1,842 contributionsWe almost skipped this hidden gem, what had been done in such a small place is wonderful. There are so many interactive experiences that make it a great experience for the little ones; my girls love it!Written May 9, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- JohnEngland, UK46 contributionsThe scale of the gardens around the Schönbrunn Palace is incredible.
They are completely free to enter, and you could spend hours walking around as they are immaculately kept, with seemingly endless roads and paths to explore.
The main fountain is impressive, and walking up the hill to the Gloriette building is a must as the view is amazing.
If you want to do some activities you can spend some money on the various museums, the zoo, the viewing platform, but for a free experience this has to be on your list.Written May 15, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Rasha236 contributionsNice theme park with many games to try.
I jumped on vienna eye which has good views of the city although I think it would have been more interesting in the day light
There is also a sling shot and a roller coaster which are both recommendedWritten May 13, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Giacomo G46 contributionsReachable by bus or better by private means. This location gives you the opportunity for a nature insight. Suitable to trekking or biking, can not be considered a touristic place. Vienna's landscape deserves the visit. To be done only with good weather and warm temperature.Written May 15, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Malta_GozoIsland of Malta, Malta211 contributionsA very nice park, very clean, very nicely designed. Lovely flowers and of course monuments and other decorations.Written November 4, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- SemoiIsrael48 contributionsVery well kept, beautiful park. We made the mistake of visiting the slightly hidden cafe. The staff was excellent, the Coffee was OK and the Strudel wasn't strudel it was supermarket apple cake. The best word to describe it is " ordinary". Maybe very ordinary..Written May 16, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Giacomo G46 contributionsReachable only by bus or private means. It is full of wineries and if you walk to the top you will have the best view of Vienna. Thing to do only in case of sun and warm weather. Not recommendable for tourists since the way to go there takes one hour by public transport. Winery landscape can be compared to an italian one.Written May 15, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Harrison F. CarterCologne, Germany10,425 contributionsIt is difficult to describe anything as average in Vienna, and although the park is nice enough, it is the buildings that make it.Written April 25, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- sjohnleslieBirkenhead, UK932 contributionsThe day before the Vienna Marathon, me and a few friends learnt in advance of a nearby Parkrun and jumped at the chance to participate. It was my first Parkrun abroad and this park was ideal for it, so flat and scenic plus if you aren’t into running there are other amenities as well like a miniature railway, giant chess board and a football cage. Only a stoned throw away from the U-Bahn too.
If you like running and love to do Parkrun then I recommend this one.Written April 30, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Tiberiu_BaranyiTimisoara, Romania7,466 contributionsIndeed Vienna has a lot green areas and parks - this is one of those parks ...But as mentioned is more to it than for the first will meet the eye -there are several potential points of interest scattered in/and around the park:
- WWII mementos of war in the shape of 2 decommissioned - but still standing menacing anti-aircraft towers - the once dreaded Flakturms. Today they are just the skeletons reminding of an era of terror and anti-semitism that shall never return.
- Vienna Porcelain Manufactory in Ausgarten - if you are interested in the art o porcelain you can pay a visit.
- MuTh Concert Hall - temporary close - but very interesting to check out otherwise.
- Restaurants and Eateries - two of those in/near the park - "Die Schankwirtschaft im Augarten" and the "Am Nordpol 3".
- Familienbad Augarten - Family Barth Augarten - as the name says a bath / swimming pool complex at the edge of the park.
If none of the above is for you there are several other things - like chilling on the green pitch, maybe having a picnic with friends , also walking or riding a bicycle can be an option.
So, overall if you want a patch of green and you are in the area this park can be the right spot for you.Written April 10, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - JohnEngland, UK46 contributionsWe took a walk through the gardens to get back to our hotel and they were beautiful. As entry to the gardens are free you should take the time to stroll through instead of the road or taking the trams.
Very well kept, with statues, fountains, and impressive building containing museums and galleries should you be looking for a paid activity.Written May 15, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - 9niklasVienna, Austria3 contributionsToday we went to the Lainzer Tiergarten and this time it wasn’t that difficult to find a place to park the car. There are many streets and a parking place near the Lainzer Tor.
My two brothers, my parents, and I decided to walk to the Hermesvilla. The ways weren’t dirty or soggy. Of course, there were a lot of other visitors, but that was no problem because everyone keeps a distance. In the end, we visited the Jägerhütte next to the entry. It was an amazing and thrilling excursion and we saw dears and wild boars.Written February 1, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Cindy CColumbia, MO49 contributionsWe went there on a rainy day so it was not pretty in general. It was kind of nice on the inner island side. But the buildings on the city side made the river look worse. Maybe it is better to go to countryside to enjoy the river.Written May 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Gabi ZVienna, Austria59 contributionsBeautiful garden, really worth a visit in the early summer! Lots of flowers and other plants, everything well organized in various thematic gardens. As it's located a bit more on the side, it's not crowded. Many tables and seats to rest or even have a picnic outside. Worth visiting also with children thanks to many cool playgrounds.Written June 13, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
