This zoo is fairly small compared to others. You can get round it in about 2-3 hours.

However, it is very well presented and the animals all seemed very lively, with great views of them all.

As you can imagine, the food and drinks are very expensive.

It was a hot summer day, perfect for a leisurely walk in the Gardens surrounding the Schönbrunn Palace.
The Gardens are beautiful and perfectly maintained!
Starting from the central point in front of the palace, where the stage for the Midsummer Night concert for International Music Day is erected, we first went to the lower artificial lake with the cascade, then continued uphill to the Gloriette and finally descended through the woods on the East of the central area.
We enjoyed the walk very much!

    This is an amazing zoo/aquarium.

It's in a fairly unassuming building, but that's part of its charm. It's basically a zoo shoved into an office block.

There's tons of neat animals, all very lively. Including a bit where you walk through a monkey enclosure which is great. There's all types of snakes, insects, turtles, monitor lizards, fish and more.

Because of its verticality, it is quite tiring getting to the top. There is a lift but otherwise it's a lot of stairs!

This place also doubles as a nice observation tower, with some great views of the city towards the top.

It costs 20 odd euros each, but is well worth it. Wish it was part of the Vienna Pass though.

The beautiful gardens are part of the Hofburg Palace and was built on top of the city's fortifications that were destroyed by Napoleon in 1809. The park was opened to the public in 1823 and remains very popular with locals and visitors alike.

With a serene setting it’s a beautiful garden very close to Danube canal. Mostly local families are seen strolling through the park. It was well maintained.

On a hill literally overlooking Vienna (you can see for many miles). The Kahlenberg is accessible by bus 38a from Grinzing, which is reached by 38 tram from Schottentor. There are cafés and public toilets, but the main attraction is the view.
Early evening is the best time to go, for the best photos.

This is one of Viennas lungs and a chance to get out of the sometimes claustrophobic city into the suburbs and the wine villages which are surprisingly close to the city itself. Take a picnic and a bottle of the most basic wine from the latest vintage and on a summy day you could want for no more and it willnot cost you a fortune.

Once the royal gardens, the Burggarten is a public park, with lots of grass and trees. As we entered, we immediately walked by the Palm House (also known as the Glass House) was built in the early 1900s. It has three sections, one used as a greenhouse, one as a butterfly house, and the middle one as a cafe. Certainly lovely to look at! On the Sunday afternoon we were there, the park was filled with families and couples sitting on the lawn, playing, sleeping, reading, eating, and people watching. We walked about to see some of the sites, notably the statue of Franz Josef I, the long-ruling Emperor of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, and the Mozart Monument, which was surrounded by people shooting selfies and group photos in front of it. We grabbed a spot on the lawn to relax and enjoy the day!

The Donauinsel is a fantastic space to spend some time on the banks of the Danube or new Danube, there are plenty of bars to enjoy a drink or why not hire a boat and go on the water!

Started our visit at the Unteres Belvedere and climbed uphill towards the Castle of the famous and victorious commander of the Habsburg army, Prince Eugene de Savoy!
The park is more than beautiful and very spacious. We were delighted by both its layout and the craftsmanship of the gardeners who maintain it!

Cool atmosphere, decent priced beer and wine. Nice to sit for a while, grab few drinks and view the Danube and people walking by.

Visited this place in the evening on the 19th of May 2024. The Botanical Garden of the University of Vienna is a botanical garden in Vienna, Austria. It covers 8 hectares and is immediately adjacent to the Belvedere gardens. It is a part of the University of Vienna. Established in 1754 under Empress Maria Theresa, it is now an independent division of the University of Vienna. The expansive grounds include open spaces and those who love gardens and gardening this place is truly fascinating !
