- Lars BDegeberga, Sweden25 contributionsThis bridge regulates the water into the Danube canal in Vienna. Already as a small boy I was fascinated by this place standing were the water of the Danube was passing by. The lions show the strength of the bridge to withstand the raw forces of the Danube.Written October 28, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Neil KLiverpool, UK828,901 contributionsMy twin brother Stephen and I were heading to Mel's Diner ( craft beer bar ) and walked over Hohe Brucke .
To be honest it's not that much of a bridge ,it's quite historic ,constructed in 1904 from designs from Josef Hackhofer ,it's a bridge that's worth checking out if you're in the area ,it's easy to locate along Wipplingerstraße ,it's location makes for some great photographic opportunities .Written January 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This is a striking 343 metre long cable stay bridge ,constructed from designs from architects or is it civil engineers group Waagner- Biro ,it's an iconic bridge that was initially built to carry the traffic during the reconstruction of the famous Prated Bridge ,the bridge also carries the U1 subway ,it's most impressive feature is the 75 metre high steel A pylon ,all in all a great bridge to check out if you're in this most beautiful of city's .Written February 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This bridge carries upto 50.000 vehicals a day ,there have been several Reichsbrucke over the years ,in fact it was the only bridge that remained intact during World War Two ,this bridge actually collapsed in 1976 due to structural faults but between 1978-1980 the new bridge was constructed and it's very impressive ,it's a modern looking river crossing and offers great views of The River Danube ,well worth checking out if you're planning a holiday to Vienna.Written February 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The bridge itself is rathe none descript ,it's named in honour of President Kennedy who met Russian leader Nikita Khrushchev in Vienna in the East -West Summit ,the bridge itself was constructed between 1960-1964 ,although rather plain in design there's a statue of an eagle with a crown on that's worth viewing in it's own rite ,the bridge is well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate along Weinfluß Weg.Written March 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is a free, small parking nearby, watching boats and ships crossing the canal is breathtaking, especially filling up and emptying the canal. There are stairs of 3 to 4 levels to reach the bridge deck for the observation. Many people will be there watching boats crossing the canal. It is 5 min away from Huma eleven mall. Crossing the bridge to the other side takes you to a biking and walking wonderful landscape to left Hüttenteich (you may be alone walking except some bikers) and to right to Waluliso Bridge, better to save GPS location so you can come back to the bridge if you are lost.Written August 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. In the middle you haf a street player playing music and was nice. Did not take a picture but still when in the stadtpark you can pass it. It is named after a writer and holocast survivor elfriede gerstl born in vienna and survived the war.Written March 6, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
