The collection exhibits Austrian artists following the period trends in painting but reflecting the local life and characters. The building itself is a piece of architecture. Quite extensive but not overwhelming. - YukkyBanana1 contributionTourist bus tours are not normally my thing - they're... erm... touristy.
But - both the live commentry night tour and a day playing on the red and blue routes were filled with very useful snippets of history, interesting facts, and local information about what to see and where to go. Going in November means you can safely and effortlsy see the best bits in daylight and at night (amazing lights!). There were a few gremlins, you do need to be diligent with your headphones (nice little souvineers provided) and occasionally your stop is a surprise.
The traffic around Vienna is pretty awful and I'm in awe with each of the drivers who can poke their Big Bus seemingly around any corner and through any tiny gap! I found all staff friendly, and the electric busses quiet and clean. Totally recommended for a bit of city exploring... In person, they are much more awesome than the pictures you see elsewhere. The rest of the collection was enjoyable, too, as well as the architecture of the building and the grounds. However, even in the middle of January, there were sizeable crowds in the galleries. The only weak point is that sometimes it seems to be meant for kids.
