Wonderful place full of history. We were lucky to see so many interesting things in few hours of a Christmas tour in Salzburg. Old history, great things to see inside in a tour. We spent here a very good time and see all. Worth to see it! The view from the high is tremendous!

Salzburg Altstadt is a beautiful area. The people were awesome and friendly. The city is clean. The very old buildings have been well maintained and are interesting including the painted buildings. I could just imagine Mozart playing in these streets when he was young.

Included in the itinerary for the Sound of Music highlights. Easy access by bus. We were there in winter so everything was covered in snow and fountains frozen - added a degree of beauty but missed the lush green garden. The inside is beautiful and there was no charge to enter.

If you are in Salzburg, take the bus to Untersburg and ride the cable car to the top. The bus takes 30 minutes to get there. If you but a Salzburg card, it covers the cost of the bus and the cable car. You can also go to the zoo and/or the palace which are a few bus stops away from the cable car.
The cable car took 8 minutes. The view is breathtaking from the top. Be prepared for deep snow and ice in winter. Proper walking boots or trainers with a good grip are needed. Hats, gloves and scarf to protect from the wind. It does get slippery in places, so if you want to go far along the ridge, consider walking poles.
There is a lovely cafe at the top of the cable car. The hot chocolate with rum and the shredded pancake with both plum and apple jams were really good. Definitely worth a stop before you head back down.

This review will be different than the others in that we are here at the end of November and Schloss Hellbrunn has long since closed. We are in Austria for the Christmas markets and thus the purpose of our visit. There is no way to get here except driving or by bus 25. The bus is inexpensive but has a whole lot of stops and you have to walk to get to the front gate though it’s not very long. There is Uber in Salzburg and that is an option and very quick. It does cost 7 euros to get into Hellbrunn but you do get a free drink. So therefore the price is basically a wash if you are going to have a beverage at another Christmas market. Much bigger than I expected and the booths are spread far apart enough to avoid that feeling of being in a subway in Tokyo during rush hour. Much more leisurely of a pace and quite relaxing. Very well decorated and large variety of things to buy. Typical food options and high octane beverages. But the demographic was very different which I assume is related to the distance and the cost of entry. Many young families in strollers along with 50+ crowd. Having seen strollers in the markets in Vienna and Salzburg, I can’t imagine how stressful the Christkindlmarkt must feel compared to Hellbrun. Very pleasant and worth the extra work to get there. The other bonus for fans of the Sound of Music is visiting the gazebo just outside of the market. Enjoy.

Beautiful cathedral... Price was reasonable to get in as they didn't nickle and dime you to see the downstairs where the archbishops are all burried. THe art work, and sculpture was amazing, as well as seeing the organs. Would have loved to hear the organs.
It was next to the Christklnardt which was convenient and nice to get inside from the colder weather for a while.

The hangar is worth a visit if you are interested in F1 Cars, Red Bull planes, Sport History etc.
The experience was complimentary and was not overcrowded. There is a bus to the hangar from the city or taking a taxi or Uber is a short ride. The hangar did not only have many F1 cars on show, but included planes, choppers, motorbikes, rally vehicles, NASCAR and much more.

You need more than an hour to browse as there is quite a bit of statistical and historical information about the displays. The Red Bull hangar is next door to the displays hangar and we were quite fortunate to see the Red Bull choppers and acrobatic plane taking off.

There is a coffee shop onsite too. A good time to spend when around Salzburg.

Had the Salzburg Card, and this was very close to the river cruise departure point, so I went here before the cruise. Such a cool museum. Loved the exhibits and displays. Bonus that it had an aquarium and a good souvenir shop.

St. Peter's Abbey is one of the oldest monasteries in the German-speaking region as it was founded in 696. The cemetery's catacombs are considered a must-see stop for "The Sound of Music" fans because that's where the von Trapp family hid before escaping the Nazis. Not surprisingly, the architecture and Baroque details of the church are outstanding and it was free to walk ins and bask in the quiet, a welcome respite from the Christmas market crowds outside.

St. Peter's Cemetery is tucked behind St. Peter's Church and is the oldest cemetery in Salzburg.

It's a beautiful and serene space blooming with flowers and sculptures.

The entrance to the catacombs is located here and you can enter for a small fee,

I enjoyed the walk through the cemetery, there was some foot traffic.

These fountains are great. They're surprising and pretty, and the architecture is great. The only downside would be having to wait for a staff member to turn them on and, in some cases, waiting for the staff member to turn them off so you can get out without getting soaked.

We visited the museum early one morning of our stay. We had little knowledge about Mozart but found the museum fascinating and gave a great insight into his short life. There’s lots of items to read including some fascinating letters and artefacts. Spread over a number of floors of the house, it was pretty quiet and probably spent an hour there. Definitely worth a visit and would recommend.
