A lot to see and the best part that it is completely free of charge. It is really worthy spending an hour or two.

Having visited Nicosia, I felt that I should go through the border in to Turkish Cyprus. The procedure is straightforward as you just show your passport at both ends. There is definitely a different feel to the Turkish side. Whilst there you can visit Buyuk Han - interesting without being amazing.

the observation deck is on 11th floor of the tower and is entirely indoors. however, the windows can be opened for photography

I was hoping to see the shape of walled city but that is not realistic since the buildings themselves are taller than the surrounding wall!

you can see Mount Pentadaktylos with the giant TRNC flags made out of stones from this tower.

Stunning there are no other words for it.
Well worth a visit and highly recommend. You do not need to be religious to enjoy the art and architecture involved.

On the Turkish side we wanted to visit this mosque, but unfortunatelly it’s closed because of renovation. We would like to come back after reopening it. Originally it was built aa a Gothic church, and the kings of Cyprus were crowned here. It was called St. Sophia Cathedral until 1954. Nowadays it’s the main mosque of Nicosia.

Definitely one of the better museums in Nicosia! It's quite modern and has nice exhibits - it has a collection of A.G. Leventis' personal art collection from Cyprus, Greece, France and Italy.

Good for a few hours on a rainy day or when it's too hot to be outdoors.

The monastery takes some time getting to, along winding roads. A very nice drive through the forest though. The monastery is not huge, but it is well kept. You can access the church part. There is also a show with the gifts you would expect. The views are fantastic. You can drive several km to one of the villages for lunch.

Sizewise this is more of a small chapel. There is not a surface anywhere that isn't covered with exquisite artwork associated with Orthodox Church. The entire complex is important for many reasons including Archbishop Mackarios who was president of Cyprus and active in unification of Cyprus with Greece. Next door to this are special cars allegedly given to him by the USA as well as government buildings. I had an outstanding guide who knows history. She made the entire history of Cyprus clear to me for the the first time.

Fabulous visit today. Smells like a working garage as well as a museum. Nico, who has an extraordinary knowledge and obvious love of the exhibits, took the time to tell us the history of the exhibits which made it all the more interesting and enjoyable.

A very proud and different monument, which depicts different people in different activities and with different emotions. It's definitely worth a walk by while you're in town.

Well preserved and interesting Venetian walls weave throughout the city and it is the landmark. You will come across the walls immediately when you step off the bus. Just under the bus station you can relax in nice park and admire the walls. The walls constructed between 1567 and 1570 to keep off the Ottomans invaders.

In the areal as the St. John’s Cathedral this museum offers inside into the traditional Cypriot life house the large collection of folk art and ethnography of the county. The building in which is the museum located dates back to 15th century The museum is quite small you can manage the visit in 30 minutes. Closed on weekends, entrance fee 2€.
