Gorgeous sea stacks that is one of the more iconic spots on Faroe Islands. Being on Vagar, the island where the airport is located, it is easily accessible as the starting point Sørvágur is very close to the airport itself. Be aware that you need an official guide to hike there and get up close, but they are beautiful rock formations even when seen from afar, for example along the road to Gjovy.

A gem in the middle of the town. Lovely narrow street and old houses with grass roofs. It's a small palce but still it was lovley to feel the old town atmosphere.

This a really beautiful and remote place. You are in the middle of nowhere. Between the mountains in such a quite place surrounded by nature and waterfalls. Wow. Not a lot of things to do besides walking. But that is part of the experience.

Easy walk to a beautiful iconic view. The Faroes are full of “wow” moments and every sight is a highlight.

This splendidly designed building was carefully chosen to fit in with the Farose landscape. The true nordic nature of the project is encapsulated in its construction: the floor tiles are Norwegian, the furniture Finnish, the timber walls Swedish, the glass Danish and the roof Icelandic. The building sits beside the glorius brutalist Soviet style HQ of the Faroese national broadcasting company. What a fine pair!

Mykines is wonderful - end of.

However, anyone wanting to hike to the lighthouse will be disappointed. There are two recommended hiking trails. The lighthouse is part of the longer one. And the trail is closed due to landslides (June 2022).

Take the ferry from Klaksvik to Syðradalur (be sure to be there on time, as it will fill up quickly) and be amazed by the landscape and views on the unique island that is Kalsoy. When driving up to Trøllanes, there are a few stops along the way (Mikladur, Húsar) not to be missed. Obviously the hike to the lighthouse is the most popular, and 100% worth it. I'll reward you with the best views in the world. (Bold statement, but I've seen my share) The hike will take about 50 minutes one way.

We walked through different parts of this park several times during our stay in Tórshavn. A happy accident to find it as our Airbnb was close by. There is a stream with fish in it running through the park, numerous statues, a duck pond and trails running all over the place. We didn’t manage to follow every trail but I found myself gravitating to this park over and over. Atmospheric in the fog and mist, relatively clean and short on litter, it was an absolute pleasure to walk here and listen to the birds sing in the bushes.
I think this park needs to receive more attention and mention! If you find yourself in Tórshavn and fancy a pleasant walk, visit Vioarlundin Park!

Nice little fortress near the harbour. Lovely vistas to the harbour, sea and to the town. Surprisingly it was raining when I visited the fortress but is would have been a lovely place to sit down and admire the views for awhile.

We were so impressed by the tunnel system in the Faroes. This particular tunnel is life changing to the difficulties faced pre tunnel. It’s hard to imagine how difficult it was to travel by the old trail over the mountain.
The tunnel is single lane, but traffic is light. And what fabulous views when you reach the end.
A five out of five rating for the incredible engineering feat.

We were very taken by this beautiful church and delighted that it was open. Friendly volunteers were keen to answer all our questions. The church is light and airy with a real boat within. Don’t miss visiting downstairs as there are beautiful wooden artworks made by a local craftsman and an artist. These depict biblical stories and are quite exquisite.
We are glad we made the effort to stop by, even though we had little time. Well worth a visit.

Free bus in town was also a great bonus. Thank you.

A very interesting trip, spectacular view of birds, unusual very tall cliff formations and the sea being fairly flat we were able to enter beautiful seacaves.

I strongly advice to use a taxi to go here, - it is far away from the centre of Torshavn and the area looks like it is in an industrail area. But inside the museum is a gem,- it is about history, trade, animals, churches, etc. - I found it very interesting, - especially since we earlier that day had visited Kirkjubøreyn and this museum had lots of things from there. If you are interested in Faroe Islands history and culture, I think this is the place to visit during your stay here!

A great find/resource/place. The building is light and airy (and has a cafe bar too). Well designed exhibition space a a really interesting standing collection that is like a history of the Faroes. The outside sculptures are also captivating. Well worth an hour of your time - but no good for teenagers unless they have a particular interest.
