- DUDAAthens, Greece4 contributionsOne of the most serene and beautiful spots in Malta, truly worth visiting more than once during your stay. Getting there was a breeze—thanks to the efficient and comfortable public bus service.Written December 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sam3314Derby, UK2,150 contributionsLovely gardens with good views of the Grand Harbour. A nice little bar. Good place to sit and watch the sun go down or to enjoy watching the boats during the day.Written November 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ianc951Leighton Buzzard, UK212 contributionsIf my daughter had not been such a movie buff I would not have gone but it really turned out to be fun. The staff and characters are excellent and super interactive which I soon found is not the norm in Malta. The fun park is in fact the actual film set fishing village constructed for the 1980 Popeye movie featuring Kevin Williams bless his soul. The deal is they invite you to volunteer to become actors under direction from the staff to relive scenes from the movie which put all the actors into party mode. We all had a great day under the Malta sunWritten October 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Flyer725383Springfield, MO136 contributionsThis was one of my bucket list items.
The Hagar Qim temples are over 5000 years old dating from the Ä gantija phase (3600–3200 BC). The Ħaġar Qim façade contains the largest stone used in Maltese megalithic architecture, weighing 57 tons.
Some believe the temples were built by giants which inhabited the island in the past.
Features of temple architecture reveal possible associations with fertility rituals, including corpulent figurines and statuary, together with solar alignments. Pottery and other artifacts discovered during excavation can be viewed at the National Archeological Museum in Valletta.
Other Ggantija temples even older are located just north on the Maltese island of Gozo which is a 15 min ferry ride.
At the Hagar Qim visitors center you can purchase your entrance ticket for $10 EU and download and audio guide to listen to during your walk thru the temples which provides insight about each marked stop. There is also a gift shop with cold drinks available for purchase.
The temples are located on the southeast coast of Malta.
The first temple is easy to access and a short walk.
The second temple is a bit further down and very near the coastal cliffs. The uncovered pathway to it has a slight downward grade and is about 400-500 yards to reach the 2nd temple. The path is rocky with a narrow man made erected bridge which you will cross. It’s not a difficult walk but does require a bit of effort to walk back up.
Both ruins are covered to protect them from the elements but the pathway is not. I visited in November and it was fine but in the summer this would be in the direct heat of the day.
As the ancient ruins and historical of Malta were the reason for my visit I found Hagar Qim did not disappoint. I recommend a visit to everyone but suggest doing a bit of your research about this UNESCO site beforehand which will enhance your experience.Written December 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Curious660126418541 contributionAmazing views of Valetta Harbour from the saluting battery. Great experience to see the gun being prepared and loaded and then fired at midday. We paid the extra three euros to go down on to the saluting battery deck and watched the ceremony of the gun battery salute, standing close to the gun when it was fired. After the salute we had a very informative tour, telling us about the history of the battery and the Fort itself, done by the very knowledgeable Luken. Great experience. We would highly recommend it.Written December 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Viv1405Folkestone, UK140 contributionsNice sandy beach & was clean, water was warm & clear. Four sunbeds & 2 parasols for e20 all day. I would think that in the height of the season it would be very busy. A big negative that there is just one potable loo & without going into detail, it is badly maintained.Written November 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sam3314Derby, UK2,150 contributionsThe picture postcard harbour with traditional fishing vessels. Good views. Be careful when it rains as the water flows quickly and gets quite deep. - bikerbabe2014Dublin, Ireland344 contributionsThis is a working waterfront so it can be busy with the comings and goings of cruise liners and other shipping. We took a gondola ride around the harbour which give excellent views of the waterfront, the defensive walls and the scenery used in many films.Written November 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - peter pwigan26 contributionsThe aquarium was about 10 mins from my hotel and was very informative with plenty of signage and various talks by the staff .There is a lot of different fish on display and even a section with snakes/lizards and a ride to represent a submarine. You can spent a few hours studying the fish. The only down side was the admission price Adult price was 16.9 euros I was given a voucher from the hotel with 3 euros OFF but this was only on the adult price. I paid 13.9 euros as a pensioner but could not get another discount with the voucher so it was a waste of paper ,for me the voucher should have applied to ALL the prices not just the Adult priceWritten December 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sam3314Derby, UK2,150 contributionsTHe three cities are just across the water from Valletta and best accessed by ferry. There are lots of winding streets and churches and good views to enjoy.
