What travelers are saying
- Jon ADublin, Ireland1 contributionFighting Sliema Co offers a diverse and inclusive environment where all levels of fighting enthusiasts, from novices to seasoned fighters, come together.
The coaching provided by Jay and Alex is exceptional and very easy going, catering to people regardless of their experience level. The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly, fostering a sense of camaraderie among participants in the classes. Fair prices for unlimited classes.
English is the primary language spoken, making it accessible to a wider audience living permanently or passing by on the island. Moreover, the multicultural setting adds richness to the experience. Beyond honing fighting skills, attendees also benefit from getting fit while enjoying the company of like-minded colleagues.
The schedule is comprehensive, offering a variety of classes to suit different preferences and skill levels. Whether you're looking to learn the basics or refine your technique, Fighting Sliema Co provides a supportive and enjoyable environment for all, including gathering together dinners.Written March 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is only one all-seat stand, uncovered, down the side of the pitch. Like other Maltese grounds supporters are segregated. The refreshment area under the sand served hot drinks, canned beer, spirits, crisps and chocolate. The toilets were clean if a bit small. The main team that plays here is the Maltese Premier League Hamrun. On the day I visited though, two Division One matches were taking place, in front of a crowd of around one hundred.
The nearest bus stop for services to or from Valletta is Mile End, a short walk. I caught the number 54 bus which took around ten minutes from the bus station in Valletta but plenty of other bus services also stop here so it is worth checking online or at the main bus station.Written March 18, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. On my first lesson the coach turned up 15 minutes late without an apology, but he did have a lame excuse about their being some confusion from the organiser.
Second lesson was ok.
On the third lesson he didn’t show at all. I waited more than 5 minutes, then another coach turns up with another student. I asked where is my coach and he told me that he understood he’s now on holiday. I couldn’t believe it. I emailed the organiser (Chris Cutugno, who is apparently also the owner of this business) He wrote back about 2 hours later and stated that my coach had to travel at short notice back to Serbia.
He then followed up by saying he didn’t think would attend the lesson.
Why wouldn’t I attend the lesson?
Why didn’t he inform me in advance or arrange another coach or lesson?
Suffice to say, I cancelled all 4 remaining lessons. I could not rely on this service, I had planned my 15 minute walk from my hotel in order to be on time to attend these lessons.
They have no idea what it means to communicate with customers.
It’s obviously a new business without a proper plan.
Bookings were made via email, they never supplied a phone number for immediate contact for emergency cases, and they don’t bother to inform you even when they had prior knowledge that the coach was unavailable even though I had supplied my contact details in ever correspondence.
Be aware, the tennis court pictures on their official website are far from the reality. They were obviously photoshopped or taken many years ago, when the courts were new.
The four photos you see on TripAdvisor are ones I took. The courts are shabby and dirty, the condition of the courts are rundown especially the metal barriers between the courts and around the court area, although the playing surface is playable.Written October 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
