We stopped here, as it seemed most every other Ring Road traveler and tour group did. Huge clothing and souvenir shop, restaurant, cafe, and food store. We were not in need of any products, but we enjoyed the stop none the less.

Awesome local shop to stop in when in Vik. They have all kinds of knit goods like sweaters, hats, headbands, mittens, socks, plus other non-knit items like kids book, soaps, etc. My husband liked that some of the items had an inner fleece or cotton knit layer so they weren't as itchy! Cool to see the front of the shop where they are making everything.

My wife and I had on our visit last year to Vik been to the Lava Show. It was such a good experience that it was an obvious choice to visit it again on our stay in Vik this year.

The show begins with a with a very informative introduction giving a lot of facts about volcanoes, lava and important eruptions. Of particular interest is the description of the disastrous eruption of nearby Katla in 1918. The next eruption is long overdue! A somewhat disconcerting fact.

After the introduction, a large amount of molten lava is poured down a sloping trough to a reservoir at the end. The lava is manipulated in different ways to illustrate its properties. All the while a running commentary is given by the showmaster. It is fascinating to watch and at same time feel the intense heat. The show gives a much better understanding of the forces at play in the current eruptions in the Grindavik area.

When booking, we had bought tickets for the behind the scenes view after the show. This was very interesting as well and we can highly recommend adding this.

All in all, the show is very informative and entertaining and well worth attending.
