What travelers are saying
- GomerTKansas47 contributionsNice museum about the herring processing center from the first half of the 1900s thru the 1960s. Surprisingly interesting, a different side of history about the workers and the changes in fishing. Also had a lot of old boats from that era.
Nice docents who answered questions. If nothing else, makes you glad you don't have to earn your living this way! Worth the visit.Written October 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's not a classic museum, he played Icelandic folk instruments there and sang some songs. then entry is included in the herring museum ticket. Absolutely worth a visit!Written June 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Andrew HaverkampfCrested Butte, CO367 contributionsMartin is totally awesome! He and his family members own and operate this incredible brewery in a restored fish processing warehouse. They aren’t open all the time so contact Martin for private tours and events big and small (he can host huge events). I took a solo private tour and it was awesome!Written May 18, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ron SNew York City, NY6,079 contributionsBy Icelandic standards it's rather a big church. It was built during the prosperous times when herring was plentiful and Siglufjörður fish factories produced some 20% of country's exports. The center of Siglufjörður attests to that with other signs of former glory.Written July 23, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Susan N3 contributionsHad a wonderful time kayaking on the Icelandic Sea in Siglufjordur! I can not speak highly enough of Gestur and my experience-he is very knowledgeable, patient and fun. Gestur taught me the correct way to kayak (thank you!) and provided such excellent service. We explored nearby shipwrecks and the ruins of a fish meal factory while he explained the local history. Finished off with a swim in the sea as he took photos. Top Mountaineering is Top Notch!Written August 19, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
