- Runnergirl62Tampa, FL69 contributionsIf you visit Reykjavik, Iceland, DO NOT pass up going up in the bell tower of this landmark in the center of town! You will NOT believe the views you get…..and the city is so lovely to look at. There is a very small fee to ride the elevator to up to a landing and then if you want to go to the very top, a few staircases. But so worth it to see the beauty of the water, the mountains, the quaint homes and shops. Lovely!Written December 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- John GDublin, Ireland31 contributionsThis is a brilliant place to visit and if you fancy a walk only 30 minutes from Hallgrimskirke. So much to see and learn about Iceland and its natural features. Loved the ice room and it subtly points out the effects of climate changeWritten December 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MitrovicSlovakia15 contributionsA really architecturally cool glass building, built in a honeycomb pattern.
It sits proudly overlooking Reykjavik Harbour.
It's free to enter and wander around to appreciate the design and take in the harbour views. There is a cafe and restaurant too to enjoy.Written October 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I’d recommend viewing during the early sunrise as it contrasts very nicely with the city skyline.Written December 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Quaintrelle RBournemouth, UK50 contributionsA fascinating look at Iceland’s history and its treasures! It’s not enormous, but filled with so many extraordinary things - Viking artefacts, bones, the famous bronze Thor, incredible knitted mittens which are hundreds of years old, jewellery, fine crafts in whalebone, weaving and silver. A really great visit.
There is a café, a super gift shop, bathrooms and cloakrooms. Well worth a visit.Written October 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Low architekturę and beautiful streets.Written November 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- L14RHSalisbury, United Kingdom71 contributionsWe dipped into this museum whilst looking for something to fill a few hours before dinner, but we were really glad we did. It was a great interactive exhibition and provided some really interesting information about Iceland's first settlers. We didn't have any children with us, but I imagine it would be a good exhibition to attend with children.Written December 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - kitzereQueens, NY16 contributionsHad a free day in Reykjavik so I decided to check out this public pool and I was so glad it did.
Cost to enter was about $9 and change and that was a bargain. I bought my own bathing suit and towel so i am not sure if they rent out. I did see bathing suits for sale for both men and women.
The access was super easy and the fitting rooms were clean and spacious. They give you a key to lock up so you do not have to bring your own lock.
The outside pools consisted of a large warm pool, a smaller hydro pool, a cold plunge pool and an outdoor heated pool for swimming.
There was a steam room, sauna and indoor pool but I didn't use them.
I enjoyed all the outdoor pools which were not crowded and everyone was quiet and speaking in low tones.
The atmosphere was very relaxing and it was so enjoyable to be in a pool that residents use on the daily.
I really had a great time here and highly recommend it if you want to experience what the locals use at a much lower price than Sky Lagoon or Blue Lagoon.
This pool was also located in Downtown Reykjavik and was within walking distance from my hotel. A great location.Written November 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Only reason not rated 5 is we never got any of the pictures we took at beginning that were to be sent to our e-mails.Written August 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SercivecriticNI21 contributionsWith blue lagoon trip cancelled and other locations booked up/no car. This was a fantastic substitution, the outside pool was very quiet and there was a number of hot thermal water pools beside the main pool all of which were a different temperature (also a 4-8degrees pool or ice pool) as well as a steam room. It was -7 outside however it was great to relax and chill out after lots of walking,
The location is fairly accessible to from the centre and although the facility has probably been there for a number of years it is still a greet facility.
Highly recommended if visiting Iceland
Very pleasant staff.
Do what the locals do would be my tip.Written November 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GarybaldbeeLondon, UK34 contributionsMy expectations were pretty low. This is, after all, essentially a museum about fishing, which sounds about as dull as it can get. But I must admit that I enjoyed my visit. The museum is small - it only takes an hour or so to cover it fairly thoroughly - but its thoughtfully presented and visually interesting. Yes, there are displays about fishing industry processes but there are also plenty of interesting artefacts and some fascinating model ships. We didn't realise the boat outside was also part of the museum until we overheard another visitor enquiring about it just as we were leaving, which was a shame. Perhaps that aspect needs to be advertised a little more prominently.
This isn't going to be the highlight of your trip to Iceland but its definitely worth a short visit.Written October 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PhoenixTAGdansk, Poland13 contributionsBeautiful view at night, even though you couldn't see the aurora with your bare eyes, phone perfectly enhanced it. The thing that only ocean separates Grotta and Greenland makes it even better. Perfect spot for Northern Lights.Written November 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- David APreston, UK534 contributionsThis is a fantastic nature reserve that you get to by ferry. We had a 2 day city card that included this trip. You do need to check ferry times as their website wasn’t overly accurate. The island has an interesting history and there are many places that will explain it. There is an art installation as well as the natural wildlife. Paths are marked out as good, ok and a little tricky. Definitely well worth a visit.Written August 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
