These hot pools are located within walking distance from The Hotel Cabin in Reykjavik. They are a little time worn and some of the infrastructure would benefit from an upgrade however it is a hidden treasure if you like soaking in geothermal pools. The changing rooms are very well maintained and supervised but do be aware that Icelandic hygiene standards require visitors to shower naked before entering the pool area in the same sex changing rooms. I found the staff very friendly and helpful and the entire experience was wonderful. I went back the next day. For people over 66 entry is free. Just take proof of age and you will be welcomed. For younger people, prices are low.

Arriving in REK at 7am means there is little to do, but there is Sundhollen!!!! This is a clean, inexpensive place with lots of facilities: indoor lap pool, outdoor lap pool, open hot pool and smaller walled hot pots (still open to the elements), steam room, small sauna, locker rooms with blow dryers. People are so nice. Buy a ticket and include the towel when you get there. No need for prior reservations. We went all 3 days we were in Rek!

Can´t beat Sundlaug Seltjarnarness as I say it is simply the best swimmingpool in the world, that is in my opinion...

My last day in Reykjavik, I was keen to try a local pool. Especially as I hadn't been able to swim at the Blue Lagoon visit. I was really happily surprised at the facilities here. It took me 30 mins to walk down from the centre of the city, but worth it to see where the locals live. When I got in, the changing area was 'municipal ' but still clean & well supplied. I wish every pool had a spinner to take the water out of your bathers. The pool area is great, however. Multiple small dip pools at different temperatures, a large spa pool, an amazing steam room (which is big enough for people to use for yoga!), & 3x lanes to swim. Everything is close enough so you dont get too chilled as you walk between areas. Children well accommodated. Its I wish I'd sussed this out earlier. I'd only allowed myself an hour in there, which wasn't enough. I'd recommend all visitors to Reykjavik support this local geothermal pool & give yourself 2-3 hours.
For heavens sake, don't try to take photos. I noticed in other reviews that staff at pools were aggressive. Honestly, they value their privacy. Don't be the tourist that ignores the rules.

This pool is usually less busy than Sundhöll Reykjavíkur and Laugardalslaug. I recommend taking a dip in the cold one (4c-8c) than to the hottest one (42c), repeat a couple of times 👌. As always, please remember to wash before entering the pools in Iceland 🙏.

The review by v_jorgensen in Nov 2017 is most informative already. What I can add is that it is priced at 1100 ISK for adults. There are two slides which adults can also use. Very good fun. So many thermal pools of different temperature to choose from. Whether you have experienced those expensive lagoon, you can try something different like this and met local people. You will not be disappointed.
