The museum is located in one of the hot water tanks used for water storage for Reykjavik. There are 2 very special exhibits, the planetarium with a focus on the Northern Lights exhibit and the ice cave, but there is way more information available in the written materials in the exhibits and in the interactive displays. There is information on climate, the animals of the country, the geology, the bird cliffs and with the upper decks, wonderful views of Reykjavik. Fortunately, there are English Language translations on most of the exhibits and in the Planetarium.

We were disappointed that they didn't offer a book for sale on the different exhibits in the museum. Rather they directed us to view the website.

The Harpa is now being crowded out by new buildings (As the economy recovers, the property boom that caused one or two problems is reconfiguring around the workforce.) But the venue itself is a beautiful building.

Delightful as always in this beautiful church. Added pleasure from the organ being played when I visited
Besides being one of the best things to look at in Reykjavik, you can get the best view of the city from the top !

This was one of my favorite museum experiences in Iceland. While it looks small when you first walk in the museum actually boasts multiple floors of the history of Reykjavik from settlement to modern day. This was souped with amazing high tech exhibits and a breathtaking view of the first home built in the city. The museum itself was clean and visually stunning. Another highly recommended museum in Iceland.

Cool modern sculpture. Nice to take some pics. Only need 10 minutes or so and not too far of a walk from the main downtown area.

We had a private tour here that was very interesting and fun. Enjoyed seeing the old structures and interacting with the sheep and other animals. Could have spend more time here.

Rented a bicycle near the old harbour. They gave a good explanation of the route, so I reached the ligthouse easily. Very impressing place: Black beach an white tower.

Visited Videy Island while the rest of the family went fishing. Absolutely no regrets. Took a public bus from Reykavik city center to bus stop nearest the Videy ferry. Used City Pass to get a ferry ticket. Then took ferry to the island. There are lots of well marked and interesting trails on the island and lots of waterfowl. Highly recommend.

We saw the Statue of Leif Eiriksson at the same time we saw the church. It is a very impressive statue in it's own right and is also a great marker to orient you to the layout of Reykjavik. It is a wonderful place for a familly portrait.

We enjoyed the sculpture garden and went through the museum. The sculptures are remarkable in the detail and imagination.

We booked an evening visit to Videy Island to see the Peace Tower. It was bitterly cold but well worth the journey, with the tower light being super powerful and lighting up the night sky. An impressive piece of art.

Stunning colors in this geothermal area just a short drive from Reykjavik. An easy hike on a boardwalk brings you very close to the geothermal vents.

Architecturally Pleasant building, right on the lake with a long pedestrian inviting bridge. I found the room sized topographic map of Iceland interesting, especially as we will be leaving soon for the ringroad.

Built in 1909 as the residence of the French consul. Now an elegant location for official state functions. Not open to the public -- supposed to be spectacular inside. In 1986, it was the location for the Reagan-Gorbachev Summit.
