this was such an amazing experience, it actually inspired me to sign up for horseback writing in the states. A gorgeous drive through horse country. The stables are clean and lovely! We did a private ride through the meadows and loved every minute of it. The instructors are absolutely wonderful, so helpful, patient, fun, and put as at ease. Vilda was our instructor and we absolute loved her!!! The horses are so lovely! You even get to try out another gate other than walking. The views are stunning!! I highly, highly recommend them!

My wife and I had an incredible time with this experience! We got to spend some time with the horses before our ride. Everyone was super friendly and made you feel welcome. There was a beautiful waiting area to sit and have a warm drink before your ride and they took great care to make sure riders of all experience levels were educated on how to ride before you got on a horse. You could tell how well they treat the horses and even take time to explain the history of the horses during your ride. My wife and I would definitely recommend this experience!

Wonderful trail ride with Annika (apologies for likely misspelling). We did a 2 hour ride and the experience was amazing. The horses were fantastic and the ride scenic and beautiful. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made sure we were comfortable and enjoying our ride. After the ride, they provided cakes and warm tea/coffee. They also provide gloves and a hat. Bring something warm to wear under your hat.

My family and I booked a Black Beach tour and it didn’t disappoint. The staff was so friendly and educated us about Iceland! It was cold and windy, but so worth the trip to see the beach on horseback. They made time for pictures!

We did the family friendly tour for our kids (11, 11, 9 and 5, the 5 was her first time in a horse). It was great, they had to pick and get the horse first, prep them and then went for a ride with the guides. Very professional and well thought for kids and first timers. My kids will remember it for ever!!. Now they are asking about horse riding at home…. Jejeje. Thanks to the team!!

Amazing time and highly recommend. Jessica was amazing in seeing us at the last minute and doing a small tour (just 4 of us in total)

Took a wonderful ride to a black beach

She was very accommodating and ensured we were having a great time

Was hard to leave......as we didn't want to and had developed an affection for the horses

Will definitely visit again if in Iceland

What a fun experience! Our guide welcomed us promptly, reviewed instructions and matched us up perfectly based on our riding experience. She was kind and engaging throughout the ride. The paddock and pasture are in great shape and the horses are well cared for. They are gentle, full of personality and trained well. It was one of the best rides we’ve been on and hope to come back!

Great experience with Saltvik. The guide was great -she spend a lot of time making sure riders were comfortable. We had a small group - only 6. So, it was very intimate. Like many trail-horse options, the horses were well disciplined on the trail. They definitely wanted to stay in a line and on the trail. The landscape is amazing. This was the reason I waited until Husavik to do any sort of horseback riding. The trail that Saltvik follows takes you over the countryside but also down to a black sand beach right on the Skjálfandi Bay, You can see white capped mountains across the bay and along the backdrop of Husavik - just amazing. Our family had a great time and the pictures that we got were great.

Overall fantastic experience! Great guides, lovely horses and wonderful stable to warm up afterwards with hot beverages. We all really enjoyed the 1 hour ride which included a beautiful trail to the sea with a number of water crossings. Thank you!!

Our wintry beach ride was one of the highlights of our trip to Iceland. It was just two of us and Caroline, who was a wonderful guide with deep knowledge. She chose great horses for us and our experience levels, and led us on a winding trail down to and along the beach. The time flew by as we took in the landscape, asked her many questions, and enjoyed a thrilling gallop along the beach. Our first experience riding Icelandic horses and hopefully not our last! We’re so thankful for the experience and highly recommend booking a ride with Dalahestar if you’re staying in or passing through the area. Thank you, Caroline!

We were driving from the Glacier Lagoon back to Vik & saw this horse farm. We stopped to see the horses. The owner let us pet the horses & was super nice. Unfortunately we could not ride them due to our health conditions but it was so nice to pet them! Thank you so much!

You can be picked up in town by the company at several designated spots in town (big busses are band from entering the city so there are many spots that you can be picked up from) When you arrive they have a very informative orientation to the centre. I don't ride horses I just wanted to learn about them. I was able to visit the stables and interact with the horses. You can ride a horse in the ring if you would like to. These horses are a must see for any visitor to Iceland. They are so gentle and are just like big dogs. They love a scratch, brush and are happy for you just to be with them. The even didn't mind my attempt to arrange their hair!! In my group of five there was a young boy three years of age and he was looked after really well and was able to have a ride. The guide was lovely really knowledgeable and so patient and kind. This tour is a must do item in Iceland. You are able to have a free hot tea, coffee or hot chocolate at any time. All the wet weather gear and boots are provided and they have sizes from small to extra extra large. You can take a free horse shoe home with you too!!
