Southern Goteborg Archipelago
#1 of 43 Sights & Landmarks in Gothenburg
The first island I chose to stop at was Styrsö which is just beautiful, all of the islands are quite low granite islands with attractive villages and lovely cloastal walks and stunning views.
Always with a better weather out here than ashore, these islands offer a swim, a snack (some few places), neat houses and paths for the sights.

Liseberg amusement park
#2 of 43 Sights & Landmarks in Gothenburg
It is a very large site, quite a lot of it a theme park with all the crazy adventure rides, but come Xmas it morphs into a winter wonderland with all the trees festooned with thousands of lights.
It's one of the few parks I've been to where rides are on top of rides (space constraints) and if you go on some of them you have a fabulous high view of the city ie Upswing, Atmosphere and Balder.

Haga
#3 of 43 Sights & Landmarks in Gothenburg
It is only a few blocks walk to the park surrounding the Skansen Kronan, which provides a great view of the city after a climb up a steep stairs or a more friendly paved path.
Make sure you climb the hill to the fort for amazing views of the rest of the city.

Masthuggskyrkan
#4 of 43 Sights & Landmarks in Gothenburg
The church building itself is architecturally interesting and sits high on a hill, with some granite outcrops amid a lawn area that would be wonderful for a picnic or just a place to hang out and view the city.
Started in 1914, the church is located on a high hill which gives commanding views of Goteborg, especially Goteborg harbor.

Skansen Kronan
#6 of 43 Sights & Landmarks in Gothenburg
Very peaceful, relaxing and quiet atmosphere and it worth take a short walk from the Haha district to enjoy the view.
There was explanation regarding the fortress with the crown on the top but seating at the edge/ on the cannon/ stairs near the fortress give you that few minutes to take in the city view.

Best church in Gothenburg with a beautiful view
This isn't downtown and is a bit further than most of the sights, so a visit would best be incorporated into a walk to the Haga neighborhood and Skansen Kronan.
Gotaplatsen
#9 of 43 Sights & Landmarks in Gothenburg
A the top of Avenyn you have a fabulous view of THE street in Gothenburg.
It is one of the most famous landmarks of Gothenburg.

Alvsborgs Nya Fastning

The views of the water and surrounding islands are great, you have freedom to explore the walls, underground rooms and the church tower.
The deep well and board walk was good to view.

Lilla Bommen
#11 of 43 Sights & Landmarks in Gothenburg
We live near here when we're in Sweden so I guess I'm a bit biased but ...it's really one of the most beautiful places for taking pictures as the views change (sky, sun, etc.) daily as well as seasonally.
You will get the best view on the ships in the harbor, and of the canal when you take one of the Paddan (boat) sight seeing tours.

Skansen Lejonet
#14 of 43 Sights & Landmarks in Gothenburg
Our group of friends from the U.S. thoroughly enjoyed this historic structure ... the views from here are amazing learning about the history of how this fort was used was really cool.
However, if you have time, I would also suggest Skansen Kronan as it's in a very lovely area; harder to get to (it's at the top of a hill) but the views are lovely and it's in Haga.
Statyn Poseidon
#15 of 43 Sights & Landmarks in Gothenburg
Poseidon, a bronze sculpture picturing the ocean god, is a landmark in Göteborg, surrounded by the main city theater, Statsteatern, the awesome art museum and the most incredible concert hall.........- all within...
From above, on the museum veranda, you get a great view over the statue and down the main street towards the city center.
