This pleasant green area sprawls close to the Odenplan in Stockholm's lovely Vasastaden neighborhood. I stumbled across the park while staying at a nearby hotel and returned a couple of times.to sit on one of the many benches to rest my feet and soak in the atmosphere after busy sightseeing days.
Vasaparken draws many neighborhood kids to well-equipped play areas or to the soccer field, which doubles as an ice skating rink in winter. Lots of people stroll with their dogs along the myriad paths. There are snack bars and restrooms, which are somewhat untidy on late weekday afternoons when I usually came to the park. On an early evening walk, I noted many families sitting with a picnic supper on the rolling green hills here. Tourists on tight budgets, who are staying nearby, may want to consider doing the same.
Though I found Vasaparken to be tremendously appealing as a place to chill out, I don't recommend it as a destination attraction from other parts of Stockholm. For those staying in the neighborhood, however, it is the perfect place to get a good introduction to what many Vasastaden residents do during their free time.
