While some reviews complain about main stops being food halls for me, that was the best part. You get to experience the rich food hall and then the everyman food hall. Fritz was a great tour guide who was very knowledgeable about the history of different Sweedish spots throughout the city. - Linda PCottage Grove, MN50 contributionsThe guides (Valentina and a guide-in-training Matt) really saved this tour. Two of the stops were nearly identical with similar pastries and coffee. The first stop was for candy - Salted Licorice and other local favorites.
But what made the tour interesting and worthwhile, was talking to the guides about current life and culture in Sweden. There was a little bit of historical information when we were in the Gamla Stan - but if that is what you are interested in - it would be better to take the Old Town Tour. They do talk about the things you see as you are walking between one stop and the next.
At the last stop on the tour we just sat and talked about many things - it felt like real fika. A welcome reprieve after lots of logistical traveling to go out in the woods for a short hike and then enjoy the sauna and cold plunge. Alexandra was a delight to have for a host, with lots of good conversation and explanation on the events unfolding. The excursion was planned out well with a yummy meal provided after the sauna. Alexandra picked us up in central Stockholm and drove us to the Archipelago, where we began kayaking. The weather was perfect, and when we reached a small island, Alexandra prepared a fantastic Fika for us. She then spontaneously suggested we stay longer, light a fire, and kayak back later under the full moon. We instantly agreed, and it turned out to be one of the most authentic and memorable experiences of my life.
