Right beside the side entrance to Frederiksberg Have, seems to be mostly closed, although during the summer months occasional arts exhibitions do pop up. - A pretty building from the outside.

This is now an art gallery which at the moment exhibits a Leonard Cohen display of his music, writing and poetry. Another half of the exhibition is at the Nikolaj Kundsthall which is an old church located at nearby Nikolaj Plads 10.

The area of Refshaleøen is a worn down industrial area not far from the free town of Christiania in Copenhagen, which is now occupied by young businesses such as media agencies, a catering service, a yacht repair and IT firms.
The CC (Copenhagen Contempory) is located in a vast industrial hall and shows a pristine selection of contemporary art. Currently (12/19 - 01/20) Carsten Höller, Larissa Sansour and Jacob Dahlgren show interesting, partly playful but also disturbing and cynical interventions and videos.
Apart from the artistic quality the facilities in the CC are rather simple and there is a slight transport-problem. If you don't come by bus or bus-boat (latter is highly recommended), you will find only limited parking space to pay for, which is severely controlled and fined if not complying to the regulations. In the evening the time slots between public transport opportunities are quite long. (1 hour from 17:00).
As a pastime there are some restaurants and a craft-brewery with some interesting beers, where you can also eat some snacks (recommended: the fermented fired potatoes for sharing).

Nice way to use a church as an exhibition hall and gallery. Until April 13 there is an exhibition about Leonard Cohen. It is displayed here and the nearby GL Strand art society at Gammel Strand 48

Just a short visit when near the Design Museum. A limited amount to see but we enjoyed some of it. Quite offbeat.

When I was doing research for our trip to Scandinavia, I came across this sand festival. We drove from Frederickshaven just to see it. It was absolutely phenomenal. The theme was “robots”. Each one was better than the other. So incredibly done. It had rained the day before and I was wondering if it affected the sculptures but I couldn’t tell at all. If you’re anywhere near the area it’s really a joy to see the creativity of these artists. It lasts until October 2019.

Marios Orozco is the real deal. Well crafted artist with great diversity of work. We watched him create a painting on his porch before being invited inside. The outside of the building is really all the advertisement you'd ever need. Excellent use of varying colors and palates to create portraits and landscapes alike. Marios and his wife were very accommodating and hospitable. We purchased a painting and while Marios broke down the canvas and prepared it for travel, he shared his intimate knowledge of the town, and history you wouldn't learn from a tour book. Incredibly nice people who get nothing but praise from us. Thanks for a wonderful experience

The best part of Galleri Christoffer Egelund are the people working in it. They have so much knowledge on the exhibited artists and are always willing to have a chat. Definitely recommend attending an exhibition opening when you get a chance.

I wanted to take something home that was locally made and not cheesy tourist type stuff. I stumbled across this shop and bough all my gifts here. They had some lovely pillows, pj's, pottery, spoons, jewelry. All might not be from Denmark but much was. Lovely place.

Galleri A. Lang is a colorful oasis in the heart of Copenhagen. The owner is, without a doubt, a true artist and after your visit you will view life from a brighter perspective.

Walking toward the heart of Christianshavn one night we stumbled across this lovely art gallery owned and managed by Dominque Jal and his wife. If you enjoy art and want a unique souvenir of your visit to Copenhagen then go here and purchase one of Dominque's prints. We opted to buy three different works portraying Copenhagen towers: the Rathaus, Frieser's church, and Bors (stock exchange). The intricate detail, beautiful colors and architectural rendition are striking. When taking them to be framed, Dominque's matting was of such high quality that are framer didn't replace them. We selected relatively simple framing to remind us of all the moderen Danish design we saw, but these would partner equally well with a more classical frame. Our prints were vertical in nature, and Dominque has horizontal cityscapes, other seasonal scenes, and beautiful pieces focusing on Copenhagen's many bicycles, all of which would be great souvenirs. Skip the t-shirt and tchocke stores and bring home something truly special that you can enjoy for years. Dominque carefully wrapped our prints for travel so it they were easy to bring home safely.

Ann is a ceramic artist herself and also sells ceramic works of other well established artists. Until 23 November the Danish artist Søren Thygesen exhibits his works: one is a natural size male in red clay. Ceramic is not only pots, bowls and cups.

I went to the Gallery of Jeanette Alsing because from the outside I was attracted by a big blue ceramic hippo on the steps. The lady inside was so friendly, she was the artist Jeanette Alsing herself. She makes humourous sculptures of animals, elephants, humans, turtles, polar bears, and the most adorable little birds sitting on branches. She was making little medals in the shape of elephants, to put on your chest like an award. It was very interesting to see the artist making her sculptures. I am a painter, so talking to the creator of the works was a treat. Her very funny and colourful animals actually seem to speak to you. This is a wonderful little gallery you should seek out. Free entry.

This small gallery has a wonderful host and artist in residence, Mette Hansgaard. Her paintings are exquisite. We are considering purchasing one of her nature motifs. They are wonderful with hidden figures that one sees if you look out for them. Her gallery also hosts other artists' works. Now there is an exhibition of a ceramic sculpture artist's work from Samsoe. We went into the gallery to see those works and were amazed at Mette's paintings. She was very gracious in explaining her art and its inspirations. We will visit again and keep her and the street on our radar screen for local artists.
