- Jeff N5 contributionsOur visit to the winery was terrific. We were given a tour by our lovely host, Liana, who took time to explain the history of Achaia Clauss, before taking us through a delicious wine tasting.
We even left with 4 bottles of wine, all of which were well priced and serve as great souvenirs of our visit. I couldn’t recommend this place enough.Written September 22, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. These are the three sections, comfortably set apart, all of value but possibly the first two more prominently so.
The Museum is more Roman that Mycenian and the mosaics are telling and the visitors few and enthused. Never come across a more spacious arrangement compared with Thebes or Athens. A 2011 project mpressive when you slide along it on the highway and an emblem for molesred Patras. Well anotated. Do not miss Drimeon site on Araxos. 3 euros per capita, stupendous!!Written January 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The small church next to the cathedral is worth a visit. The shop across the street has very nice icons of Andrew and his witness.Written October 26, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EmM3 contributionsIf you are anywhere near Patras then this is highly recommended. Very reasonable 3euro entrance fee for a walk around a stunning site. Beautifully kept and with the most fabulous views and the archaeological interest of ancient tombs, this was a highlight for us.Written May 31, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JWBondKaufering, Germany263 contributionsWe visited the castle as we spent some time in Patras.
It is accessible by foot but you have to take several steps if you want to see everything.
This means that the view from the top is amazing but takes some breath. 💪
You can see the whole city and country from the top by an amazing view 😍
So worth seeing it if you are around but not worth a separate drive.Written July 17, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. So we chose the Wine Connoisseurs to take us to the Achaia Clauss winery for a private wine tasting experience!
We tasted five premium wines and among them the famous variety of Mavrodaphne.
The wine tasting was private in the Villa of Gustav Claus and then we had lunch that had been organized for us!
We also visited the imperial cellar and the wine museum. Everything was as promised and the experience custom made to our taste!
Thank you Andriana for the lovely day we spent together!!Written August 8, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. During the Turkish occupation, most of the city inhabitants lived around and close to the Castle. When the 1828, Stamatis Voulgaris drafted a city plan by order of the governor , a remodeling of the Old and Upper city was proposed, as well as its extension to the west and as far as the beach, an area which , until then, consisted of agricultural land and marshes, with very few buildings.
The houses built in the New and Lower City are statelier and reflect the affluence of the owners, who were usually merchants, landowners and, later, men of science.
The city’s direct link to Ionian island, the development of trade, the city’s international community, the patriotic ideology and the Western Romanticism, all led to the establishment of Neoclassicism as the dominant architectural style in the city
The Apollo Municipal Theatre can be said to represent the splendor of neoclassical architecture, at least in regard to Patras.Written September 13, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lucie4 contributionsOn the 21st August I was with my friends in Waterpark Calma. For students is price 7€ for all day, so it’s good. For the lunch we had Classic Club Sendwich and salad (like Caesar, but with cherry tomatos). We enjoyed our meal. Prices are little bit higher (especially for the drinks), but still is good. Water attractions are funny, almost no waiting. Just one thing was worse - drinks on the bars. Big beer costs 4,50€, but it’s only 400 ml. Mojito costs 9€, but you don’t get a mojito, it’s some alkohol with some sirup, water and ice ...Written August 21, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Panos DragonflyerPatras, Greece6 contributionsInfrastructure is old but a project is running for new Bus Station to a modern hub.
Ticket / customer service kind and ready to assist.
Prices are quite cheap compared to Europe (approximately 10 euros per 100 km).
Buses are stunning: New, clean, Free WiFi equipped.
Drivers are more than safe and experienced. I travel quite often (once per week) and never experienced somebody risky and unsafe... they drive at a speed of 100 km/h on the highway.Written February 27, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
