- Jana M3 contributionsFantastic sandy beach with so nice amenities, free sunbeds and umbrellas, very well managed bar with variety of meals (including a lot of salads!), very friendly waiters, nothing was a problem!! :-) Clear watter, amazing location!! - Perpetual MotionFlorida531 contributionsThis Island of Samos is a relatively small island right off the coast of Turkey. It is a fairy lush island with tall cypress trees and conifers as well as eucalyptus and of course olive trees. There are two main cities Samos town and Pythagorean. Samos is the administration center with a beautiful harbor and Pythagorean is more of a tourist center. Road are good and a car makes life easy if you like exploring. Food is good but in Pythagorean it is a bit touristy especially on the waterfront. Crystal clear waters and great views are everywhere.
One word of caution if you use a non EU debit card. Most random ATMs give an outrageous exchanges rate 10-12% above going rate plus an access fee. Search for an ATM that is tied to a bank. Read carefully when you use the machine and walk away if they are charging more than usual. It seems that if they go outside of the actual exchange rate they must calculate the actual cost in Your currency before you complete the transaction. It's ideal for children. Not so keen on the beach bar music in the centre, and sad to see plastic waste washing up on the beach, but overall it's not a bad choice. Plenty of room if you want to avoid the sunbeds, and hopefully it will stay that way.Written July 21, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Gene R JSilver Spring, MD7,934 contributionsWe walked a 3 mile circuit from our Zorbas Hotel this cool clear morning. The quiet road has a gentle incline, passing a Hellenistic Villa and aqueduct ruins on the way to the 6th C BC Tunnel of Eupalinos. After viewing its opening, we backtracked up to this monastery founded in 1586 which was free to enter. Passing the courtyard tower, we saw the chapel then descended into the beautiful lighted cave-grotto to its pretty blue chapel. Researchers claim it was a place of worship since ancient times. Back outside near the WC at the old supported pine, we found wonderful views to the town castle, the Roman baths and airport. Returning, we stopped to see the Roman theater and its 4th C BC arched cavern behind the stage.
Perfect exercise with great scenery and part of the 1992 UNESCO Pythagorein and Heraion of Samos.Written May 10, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - SL78CPHCopenhagen, Denmark30 contributionsIf you need a change of scenery from lying by the water in the the dry Greek summer warmth, this is a good activity. Beautiful hike by the stream in the shadows of the trees and the cliffs. And if you up for it, a fresh 30-40 meters swim in a 1-2 narrow cliff alley to the bottom of the stream to se the actually waterfall. It was to deep to walk, so I had to swim with my 3 year old on the back. I recommend to wear shoes on the swim as you have to walk on some rocks to reach the waterfall.Written July 14, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Iosif TsitsekidisThessaloniki, Greece5 contributionsAncient artifacts can be found in many museums in Greece, but not that giant Kouros of Samos.Nevertheless, the rooms are not air-conditioned,something that is essential in the hot Samos summer.Written August 22, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Charles L13 contributionsLimnionas has a very beautiful partly sandy beach backed by Mount Kerkis. It is one of the most beautiful places in the Mediterranean. Even when busy it isn't crowded. The sea has crystal clear water and is wonderful for swimming and snorkelling. There are many fish in the water. The sea is mostly very calm, and there's a good taverna on the beach that isn't expensive and cafes, and three very good restaurants in Limnionas. Very worth visiting, often!Written July 3, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Leonidastra86Ofterdingen, Germany2,249 contributionsThe beach is small and organized with umbrellas and sun beds but you can sit somewhere without as well. The stones are soft and you can walk also without shoes and without hurting your feet.
There is a taverna, a mini market for drinks and some rooms to rent.
The water gets deep after a while but for the kids is also good at the beginning. There are a lot of families here. The water is warm, the warmest we had since weeks with 26 grade Celsius.
However is not very clean, probably because it doesn't really circulate with the rest of the sea and pools.
What is more, on one side of the small beach is a small harbor with numerous boats coming in and out. That doesn't really help to clean the small overcrowded beach clean.
However, as already mentioned, you can reach the beach with the car and find pretty easily a parking place.
You will find shadows to sit but the sun sinks early in the evening so come early as you will have to leave early.Written August 27, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - VictorlansAthens, Greece21 contributionsYou have to see and feel what it must have been like to start digging this more then 1000 meter tunnel 2500 years ago. Only by hand and with only "simple" ways to navigate through the bedrock. Digging from both sides of the mountain they managed to meet in the middle with only a few foot difference. Amazing!!Written December 11, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Michael KBerlin, Germany25 contributionsGreat naked beach 3km each of Kokali, I went to the far right where the "rental beds" stop....the locals at this end were fun and interesting;)Written May 23, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- VadimMurmansk, Russia22,399 contributionsThis monument has been standing on the pier in the Eastern part of The Pythagorean Harbor since 1988. Minimal school knowledge of mathematics is enough to understand the message of the sculptor Nikos Icarus. Every schoolchild in the world remembers the Pythagorean theorem. The appearance of Pythagoras performed by Icarus does not match the famous Roman bust from the Capitoline museums. The lack of accurate information about the appearance of Pythagoras leaves room for creativity. By the way, this also applies to ideas...Written June 18, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- LN1946Varde, Denmark7,960 contributionsMoni Vronta i located in an altitude of 460 meter in the mountains on the north coast.
There is a fantastic view from the monastery.
The route up the mountain to Moni Vronta is so beautiful.
You pass the idyllic village Vourliotes on the route. It is a must to visit Vourliotes.
Moni Vronta was founded in 1566 by the monks Jacob and Makarios.
Moni Vronta is a big and interesting monastery.

This beach is really beautiful and also a journey find. It’s a public beach where you can swim with or without clothes. Good to know for the shy people. - Nicola_Aylesbury_12Dorset, UK15 contributionsGood, helpful interpretation boards, and because it's not too large the museum doesn't overwhelm you.
