An amazing renovated church from 14 century. I visited it on the third day of my 5 days trip to Thessaloniki. It is high church. It has an amazing freskos. I can see the crypt of Saint Dimitrios. In it I saw fragments from the earliest church variety.

A relatively compact museum spread over three floors. However you could spend anywhere between 1.5 hours to 3 hours to fully explore. The different segments have different content; the paleolithic/neolithic has a highly educational aspect. The Mycenae gold exhibition has a real wow factor - with some stellar examples of Bronze Age bling. The Derventie papyrus is fascinating.

Very vivid! Many, many restaurants. Many bars and nightclubs. Tourist prices here, but still not extremely expensive. I can advise to go there.

Impressive square, worth a visit as there’s always something happening, locals congregating and promenading.
Grab a coffee and people watch!

We had a great experience. There are many different rooms where and who can learn about different aspects of the Byzantine life. There is also audio guide.

An amazing Byzantine church not to missed when you visit Thessaloniki. Located in the centre of the town easy to access . The frescos and architecture makes it a worth visiting place. One can definitely enjoy the atmosphere of an orthodox church and escape for a few moments from the hot and noisy shopping streets that sound the church.

Situated on a small monastery compound with a mixture of new buildings, aviaries, vegetable plots with the centre piece of a 14th century chapel. Sadly, the frescoes were damaged when they were plastered over in the Ottoman era. However some original features can be still discerned.

    Booked two tickets online.
You need to open an account and need an ID number.
Not knowing the layout I booked the cheapest tickets at €10 using gate 4.
When we arrived at the stadium I showed the tickets to a steward, he looked at me, then at the tickets and smiled. Gate 4 is for the diehard PAOK Ultra fans.
Although we had seat numbers it was a free for all.
    The atmosphere was great.
I would recommend it but maybe not gate 4😆

I wanted to show my support for Jewish people in these difficult times . The terrible history of the removal and murder
of Thessaloniki’s large Jewish population to Auschwitz in 1943 is well recorded and deeply moving.
Reading Salonica, City of Ghosts by Mark Mazower, he mentions Ptolemeon street, from where many were removed.
We stayed in an apartment in that street. This really brought it home to me.
