If you want to immerge yourself intona journey in the past and understand what the magnificent Cnossos Palace once was, this is a must visit. The museum features amazing pieces of ancient history. If you are into this, don't miss the Museum.

Beautiful old fortress locates in the Heraklion harbor. This was the venetian fortress, the thick walls and big towers.

When we went to the Natural History museum in Crete, I didn't know it was going to be that fun and interesting. The museum consists of 5 floors 2 which are underground. My favorite exhibit was at -1 floor where you could see turtles swimming and crawling.i also really enjoyed the earthquake simulator and the exhibit on illusions. Overall I would recommend it to anyone who is traveling to Crete.

Everything was perfect! The atmosphere, the staff, the explanations, the landscape, the time in itself within the vineyard and olive trees. The wine tasting was such a good time! Wre ordered a cheeses and cold cuts table, with stuffed wineleaves and Olives we spent like 2 hours enjoying our tasting/lunch with such a beautiful panorama! Definitely a must!

I walked here on a Wednesday morning in early July 2022. This museum seemed smaller than it looked from the outside but I was surprised at the amount of exhibits. I would highly recommend the 4.50-euro audio guide.

I give this museum a 5-star rating because it was the most substantial cultural site that's worth visiting if you're ever in Heraklion. I Iearned a lot about the island. If you're a student, they'll give you a student discount.

There are about three floors of exhibits with a Cafe on the 2nd floor. The audio guide was very thorough and would have spent even more time there had I not been in a rush. Well worth a visit.

Nice fountain in italian style. You can find it in the center of Heraklion near the venetian loggia.

We visited the Old Venetian Harbour whilst walking around the city of Heraklion. We were on a one day stop in the city on a Sunday in June from our cruise ship and had been transferred into the city from the cruise terminal by coach.
The harbour area is quite extensive and very picturesque with its pleasure craft bobbing at their moorings, the old Venetian fortress and the long harbour arm sheltered on one side by a tall wall for those looking for a longer walk (or run). Sharing the port facilities are ‘Blue Star’ and ‘Minoan’ ferries to and from Crete and it the distance we could see our cruise ship.
We noticed some tall arched buildings across the harbour, looking almost Roman, and we were puzzled and to what these might be. A quick search on the internet revealed these to be the remains of Venetian shipyards.
There are some restaurants and cafes around the harbour area if you are looking for some refreshment, we bought some freshly squeezed orange juice from a vendor and this helped quench our thirst on what was a hot day!

Really a very nice experience! Very knowledgeable guide, lots of wine to taste, just a 30 minutes taxi ride from Heraklion, one of our best wine tasting experiences (and we have had MANY) ever. We also found some of their wines back in the US, taste just as nicely as on site!

Really great tasting experience. We did the food pairing and it was delicious authentic Cretan food; plentiful and homemade with ingredients from their garden.

Their wine business has passed through generations in the family and is now female run by two of the daughters. Their thoughtful work is not just noticed in the bottle but in all the hospitality details. Of note is their commitment to making organic wine. Very easy and pretty drive from Heraklion. Bravo to the owners of the winery for providing such a lovely setting and views to enjoy their wines.

These extensive walls are very impressive. They particularly identify their historic importance to this city. which was subject many incursions by a variety of nations.

Excellent building from Venetian times - the loggia dates back to 1620. The loggias were places where Venetian noblemen gathered and discussed the local economic and social issues. Nowadays it is a seat of a town hall of Heraklion.

While driving to the plateau you should make a short stop here. Nice little monastery with a long history. Visit the church and enjoy the views.

I am travelling very often with Knossos or Festos palace the 2 big boats that do the route Crete to Piraeus. I am very satisfied in general. My only problem and it is a serious one is that is very very cold inside the boat so it is very difficult to sleep (the trip is late at night) .I have tried in the cabins where they offer a duvet of course but then you are sweating and the cold air from the a/c hits you!! I have tried in the VIP seats, in the economy seats, everywhere you are freezing.
    Please do something about that.
    It is a real problem.
    Thank you
