- Carolina CTBayamon, Puerto Rico65 contributionsThis place is magic. This historical place has an amazing landscape and view. You definitely need to come here if you are in Athens. If you are the kind of person who loves sunsets, definitely must to come here to appreciate nature and architecture. You can either pay for a guided tour or you can download audios from Google with a map and the explanation of every section of this wonder of engineering. Enjoy every moment, and get ready to travel in time !Written February 4, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Silva55 contributionsVery nice place for sunset! But....there are SOO many people. Also, I don't recommend to use the cable car as the walk and the road to the top is very nice!Written January 27, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Naija MTirana County, Albania619 contributionsI visited this place because entrance was included as part of the €30 ticket I purchased when I visited the Acropolis. I was not disappointed, in fact, I’m some ways this was my favourite archaeological site in Athens. It covers a wide area and seemed less crowded than some of the other sites. It includes a small museum and the temple.Written December 27, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MikeBirdmanActon, MA983 contributionsIncludes the most intact temple remaining from the Greek era. Amazing to see. The rest is ok; mostly to think of the famous Greeks who would have walked these streets and the origins of modern civilization.Written February 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AdventureMN95Minneapolis, MN53 contributionsAmazing it’s a must stop on the way to the top or before you leave (depending on your entrance) the theater it’s self is stunning and then add the background of Athens, amazing photo op!Written February 4, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AdventureMN95Minneapolis, MN53 contributionsSmall little temple next to the parthenon the coolest part was the women statues carve onto the columns of the building.Written February 4, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael JWisbech, UK239 contributionsup this hill to catch the views of neighbouring Acropolis Hill, as well as the sea view where, on a clear day, the visiual range is astounding. Relatively easy to climb with many dedicated paths to the summit and monument, where there is limited shade unlike further down.Written December 23, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stevebuk2Beverley, UK25 contributionsA beautiful residential neighbourhood. So do keep the noise down, but the views and little alleys are beautiful. Basically just go up when in Plaka and you will find it.Written November 15, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jaybeeFLPalm Harbor, FL3,102 contributionsTrekking through this neighborhood you have the opportunity to experience ancient Greek sites like the old market (agora), Hadrian's Library, and the Stoa of Attalos, while passing streets jammed with souvenir shops, those hawking cheap knock offs and row after row of restaurants and bars. What a mix!!! The place is usually quite crowded especially with tourists so be prepared to weave and bob your way through the maze of streets and passageways.Written September 29, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DuncanTCHEast Greenbush, NY1,085 contributionsWith so many Greek Gods and so many different temples to those Gods, it's easy to get confused who goes with what temple. To clarify...The Temple of Athena Nike is the first temple (off to the right of the main entrance) that one sees when entering the acropolis. More plainly stated...it is NOT the temple that has the female columns on it that one sees to the left when entering the acropolis. THAT is the erechtheion, also dedicated to Athena, but not Athena Nike....that temple is 1/2 to Athena and 1/2 to Poseidon.
Too many reviews on this listing are for the Erechtheion, with pictures to match, talking about the beautiful female columns. Say it with me...if it female columns that is NOT the temple of Athena Nike.
Athena Nike's claim to fame, in addition to being stunningly beautiful, is that it's one of the earliest Ionic buildings at the acropolis...Ionic, as in extremely "simple" columns.
It is also one of the few buildings that appears nearly complete, with both exterior columns and interior walls. Often missed as people "rush" onto the parthenon once past the entrance, the temple of Athena Nike really should be viewed and experienced for its simplistic beauty.Written December 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The square has plenty of space and beneath the square is one of Athens main transportation hubs. It's also a great place to sit with a to-go coffee and simply people watch.Written December 24, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Amy49 contributionsWe stopped here before making our way up to the Acropolis, and spent 10-15 minutes admiring the views of the city and Parthenon. Comfortable shoes with decent grip are needed to stray from the paved area and walk along the rocks. For me it was very special and humbling to stand where St Paul once preached, and think of how much has changed in the world since that time.Written November 10, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
