I’ve been interested in traditional Greek weaving for a while and wanted to learn more, and this workshop exceeded my expectations! Even my partner, who doesn’t particularly care about textiles, really enjoyed himself. The film that was shown was beautifully shot and informative, and after watching it Chrysa walked us through an interesting display of the materials used in the steps of textile production. The workshop usually consists of the participants making something on a tapestry frame or belt loom to take home with them, but I already have a lot of experience with tapestry weaving and was more interested in learning about the traditional (and contemporary) processes of Greek weaving. When Chrysa realized that, she quickly adapted to what I wanted, and we had a fantastic time talking about weaving! Since we didn’t actually get around to making something to take home with use, Chrysa let us come back the next day to watch her work and also gave us two woven belts that she had made herself. Although we didn’t end up making anything, I have no doubt that Chrysa would be a fantastic teacher. As well, her weavings that are on display are very beautiful (and pretty cheap for what they are). Chrysa is incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and passionate, and I had so much fun with her! I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone who has even the slightest interest in textiles!

We had a great time at the Pottery workshop. The staff were lovely and friendly and open to anything we wanted to do! Excited to see the results once they are dried and baked. Thank you!

As experienced mosaic experts, our teachers taught the history and process. We saw photos of their own mosaics (shop signs in town, etc.) Most of all, they were fun to talk to. I enjoyed their open willingness to get to know us, and explain their home town. Clean, pretty studio with lots of examples and supplies. It made our weekend in Athens become much more than just tired tourist feet. Mosaics meant much more, too.

We had a lot of fun with my wife and we learned about ancient warfare with Gregory, who knows everything about it. Though, there is still place for a philosophical debate.
    Highly recommended!

This was an excellent experience! A must for anyone visiting Athens. I wanted to learn more in detail about the origins of democracy, which was established in Athens, and this was an excellent way to do this. The Pnyx, where this event took place, is absolutely a must visit given the importance in history.

The hosts were excellent and the interactive element was what made this what I will remember the most from my trip. Out of all of the experiences and tours, I learned the most from this. Topics covered included all leading to the development of democracy in Athens, how the democracy worked, how voting worked, ostracism, among other topics. We even carved a ostracon which was provided as a gift/souvenir which is very cool. The clay used for it is from the same sources as the originals actually used by ancient Athenians.

I wish everyone has the chance to join this workshop, and I look forward to trying the others on my next visit!

This activity consists of a 1.5 hour dance lesson, and then a separate dinner at a restaurant. Our family of 3 were the only people on this tour.

The dance lesson was great. The instructor is a well-known teacher of traditional Greek dance. She is very nice and kept the dances at a "beginner" level. That said, she is a serious dancer so if you approach the lesson too casually then I think you will feel her impatience. However, we tried our best to learn the dances and we had a fun time.

After the lesson, our guide Konstantinos walked us to the restaurant for a traditional Greek meal. As we walked, he talked about interesting sites along the way. He was extremely knowledgeable about many aspects of Greek history, culture, politics, and economics. We asked him many questions and he answered everything with a smile and a great attitude.

The dinner was pretty good but honestly not the best that we had on our trip to Greece. The three of us in our family sat at a table together, while Konstantinos sat at a different table. This was a little awkward-- it would have made more sense if there had been more people on our tour. We could have all sat together and chatted. But overall it was fine.

I definitely recommend this tour if you are interested in learning Greek dances and experiencing the culture in a deeper way beyond the typical tourist attractions. However I think the experience would be enhanced with a bigger group of people.

Thank you to the HellasRevival Team for a fruitful and amazing experience. As was mentioned during the workshop „doing philosoophy‘ should be an every day activity ... I took 4 teens along and it was lovely to see them totally involved from beginning to end - it was very well planned, fun and riddled with facts of ancient greece, philosophy with personal rhetoric participation from all the teens. The digital museum is a gem waiting to be discovered ! We highly recommend this activity and really appreciated the HellasRevival team support - will be coming back for more and would give more than 5 star if I could !

This was a fantastic and very informative tour! Anyone interested in the history of science, technology and knowledge will enjoy this a lot. The elements of Air, Water, etc., were not just philosophical abstracts but principles to be understood and manipulated through physics to great effect! Our tour guide Eva was especially enthusiastic and wonderful.

Athens, the Cradle of Democracy, is a city like no other. The rich history, the places to visit, the food!! And yes, the locals really ARe warm and friendly. Even if you don’t speak Greek, most are willing to give the visitor a hand.

Restaurants, in the cool of the evening, are a fun way to mingle with the locals, and even the tourists, if just for a short while, become “Greeks”.

For lunch, stop at a little outdoor restaurant and enjoy your meal and as you are drinking your coffee, watch the world pass by your table.
