I split a taxi, using the Uber app, with my bf to get here on a Tuesday in late June 2022. I already had a ticket from the Acropolis Combo Pack I bought for the Ancient Agora.

It was a really hot day and we were running out of water. The vending machines for water only took coins so either keep a bunch of coins with you or pack enough water when you go. Thankfully a staff pointed us to a faucet with drinkable water we can refill our bottles with near the entrance. Such a godsend since you can't leave the park once you scan your ticket to enter the Acropolis and all the drink vendors were outside.

We downloaded the Free Rick Steve's (RS) Acropolis Audio Guide from the RS Europe App and used it to explore. I would highly recommend downloading it beforehand. Unfortunately, there was very little shade at the Acropolis so I'd suggest going really early or an hour before they close so that it's not so hot. We went at noon and the heat definitely took away from the entire experience. Well worth the trek though.

I enjoyed our visit to this museum, I didn't know it existed. The voicemap tour took us here. Great recommendation for the local perspective of archeology.

We took the ferry from Piraeus (Athens) to Paros and back again later in the week. The way out was fine, much comfier, the boat was a lot bigger and less busy than on the return journey.

Luggage storage was a complete mess- so disorganised and a free for all, someone could easily make off with your case.

On the way back it was chaos - only a very small section was economy, with everything business class only meaning there was a free for all to find a seat. The only seats available for economy were a small bit in the cafe and outside at the back. Not very good given the number of people and seems a money making scheme to get people to upgrade.

Cafe was overpriced (as expected) and the only option for food (unlike the boat on the way there that had a fast food restaurant too). Make sure you bring drinks and snacks with you to avoid their prices, €3 for a can of coke!

Was a means to an end but experience could definitely be improved.

Our Holland America ship, the Eurodam. docked in the Port of Piraeus. It was not really a destination for us but rather an entryway into Athens,
Piraeus was once an independent city but now has been absorbed into Greater Athens. It took about an hour by tour bus to get to Pláka (old town) or the acropolis.

Liked this church. It was a lovely place to visit. Pleasantly surprised, there was a local lady that explained how things are done in an Orthodox Church.

My Airbnb host suggested I purchase my ferry tickets in advance, and I'm glad I listened. Hellenic Seaways made so many changes to my itinerary that I would have most likely been screwed and left out of the loop had I just showed up to buy a ticket on the day of my trip. Instead I received emails every single time my itinerary was impacted.

The first change they made was about a week prior to the type of ferry, then they changed the departure time to one that was later. The departure time changed again several times and we ended up getting delayed around an hour. Fortunately my Airbnb host is Greek and used to dealing with the ferry system.

If you're heading to the Greek islands and relying on ferries, my recommendation is to try and avoid any connections if at all possible. I also recommend you try to get to the islands at the front end of your vacation, rather than saving them for last. Also, try to get back to Athens AT LEAST two days before your departing flight. The ferry schedules change so often, I personally wouldn't feel comfortable attempting to get back to Athens with less than a day to spare. Add in any unforeseen bad weather and that could be a recipe for disaster.

This public-transport-accessible beach is a real find, for a joyful and beautiful day at the beach while on an Athens visit. My son and I had a great time!

Well-preserved temple in the middle of the island. Along with a pilgrimage to St. Nektarios, a visit to the port town, Temple of Aphaia is a nice excursion. Not a large place to tour; great views; 6 Euro entry fee.

Living in a country surrounded by water and sea creatures, this place gave me and my kids the oppurtinity to care and respect sea life more!
It is actually a hospital for wounded sea turtles found in Greece, which helps them recover and then releases them back in the sea. Volunteers give you ar brief tour, free of charge. Small groups go in every 15 minutes. You must be quiet, because all the turtles are "sick" and need to feel relaxation. There were 40 turtles in the Rescue Center. If you want to help, buy a souvenir, or ...adopt a turtle. I strongly suggest a visit (it s an open air facility), especially for kids. Spent 30 minutes of your lives for these injured beauties.

The beach is clean and the water is fabulous. Entry fee is 10 euro per adult and if you get there before 10-11 am there are plenty of sunbeds to choose from.

No towels provided, so make sure you bring your own.

I gave 4 stars are there aren't too many options for lunch and because I do not think sunbeds are sanitized. I would recommend you do it before putting your towels down.

Kostantinos of Let’s Get Tours was our guide for a trip to Cape Sounio - Temple of Poseidon with a brief stop at Lake Vouliagmeni. Kostantinos had good humor and impressive knowledge of the areas which made the trip fun as well as being a learning experience. All of the guides from this company are courteous and in addition to their expert knowledge provided is with different ideas of areas to visit within Athens as well as other areas in Greece. Highly recommended.
