- Jennifer CCumbria, UK1,655 contributionsWe saw this whilst doing the blue bus tour -googled it and decided to visit the next door, we were aware it's aimed at younger people and this was evident when we arrived as we missed the entire 1st room as it was full of children on a school trip but we loved every other room and were blown away by the boat ride, we absolutely loved it. We took loads of photos and felt it was money well spent. As we were leaving lots more school children around but didn't bother us at all. Great learning for them. We loved the rhino!Written June 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- hans-jaguarSanta Comba Dao, Portugal24,028 contributionsYou will find the “Misericórdia Museum of Porto” in the historic center of Porto, and this in the “Rua das Flores”, in a building who was used as “the institution's headquarters” and this from the mid-16th century until the year 2013. By visiting the museum you will discover the history of the “Santa Casa da Misericórdia”, its institutional purposes and its art collections.
The museum opened in July 15 of the year 2015. And on the 3th of June in the year 2016, he was distinguished with the Portuguese Museum Award of the year 2016, given by the Associação Portuguesa de Museologia.
The visit of the museum goes as follows, you have to go first up-stairs and then you are coming down again by passing several rooms with different expositions. Worth a visit, even that the entrée fee is not that cheap.Written December 4, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The Museum occupies the former premises of the former political police (PIDE), in Porto. What is noteworthy is the main building, this building has traces of a manor house from the beginning of the last century. As a museum, the large collection of miniatures of war figures is mostly significant, many of them are in lead, being a very interesting set by a private individual who donated them to the museum and which will be one of the best in Europe. Once you have finished the indoor part of the museum, you still have the outdoor pavilion and the garden, both contain an interesting collection of objects from the presence of Portugal in the 1st world war and in the overseas war. We warmly can advise a visit of this museumWritten November 27, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Anna BBrisbane, Australia41 contributionsLocated in an industrial part of Porto, approximately 10 minutes from the city centre by train, this is a small but interesting museum (when I say small, I mean the whole visit took around 30 minutes, and that was with us taking our time!) It is in the middle of a more industrial part of Porto, and the museum itself is located on the bottom floor of a pharmaceutical company.
With the Porto Card, entry was only 2.50 Euro. We were given information in English, which provided background to all of the exhibits. Some of the information was poorly translated at times, and was not always presented in logical order. Despite that, it was well worth a morning trip. There was only the two of us when we visited, so definitely one of the quieter museums we have been to!Written May 25, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is a short film at the beginning - a must see which talks about Jews coming to Portugal in the early days of the Nazi regime. Since Portugal was neutral during the war - the country was not affected in the same way as Poland, France, etc. But it is important to learn what the Jews of Portugal did to help and how it took in many refugees from Nazi Europe. The museum then goes on to describe the Holocaust in Europe and the final triumph with the creation of the State of Israel. Although small, i think that anyone and everyone should visit this museum.Written July 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rasmus FKalundborg, Denmark8 contributionsThe museum is very small (two rooms), situated in part of an old hospital. Entrance fee was 1 euro per person. You see a 10 min movie about establishment and function of the first pharmacy in Porto. The exhibition includes historical phamaceutical ingredients and various tools e.g. a pill press. Staff was very kind and helpfull. We loved spending 30 min in this historical setting.Written August 10, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
