Wow, wow wow! It is definitely the most beautiful railway station I've ever seen. It is incredible that it was all painted by just one person! And the attention to detail is unbelievable! It is weird to recommend a visit to a train station, but this is a must must must see. But also you have to be careful there because there is always a lot of people there, tourists and the ones traveling with train.

Definitely worth a visit. The 30 minute guided tour was interesting. Go early in the day to avoid large queues. There are tours in 4 different languages and you can see the timings on the screen inside which will show the next tour's capacity and language. Palacio da Bolsa's website doesn't seem to have online booking.

Loved the classical music performance we went to (Mozart and Wagner). The concert hall is well worth experiencing. Booking online worked well. We thought 9.30pm was a late start, but it is close to the Metro, so late finish wasn't an issue for getting back to the centre. We were disappointed the restaurant isn't operating, but the cafe is open.

This beautiful seaside area is very relaxing and allows you to take in the peaceful ocean away from the noise and hustle of the city

It is the political center of Porto, in front of it there are letters of Porto and it is a great photo spot. I recommend coming early not to wait a long time to get your photo. Also there are a lot of details on the building and I saw quite a few people drawing it while sitting in front of it. There are always a lot of people there because it is also a place where tourist groups start their tours.

The palace is the homes of the various religious leaders located next to the cathedral. The building is gorgeous and it is full of interesting items and information.

Beatiful place , unique , fun and lovely people. My daughter and I really wanted my husband to shave as he hadn’t in a while. He was sooooo pampered , best haircut and shave he has ever had. Ended up handsome , refreshed and glowing. We were waiting outside and one of the gentlemen came out and insisted we go inside and enjoy. Do not miss a shave or cut here. They are true pros!

On our visit to the city of Porto we also went to visit the “Ferreira Borges Market” who is considered as historic building. It got built in the year 1885 in order to replace the already “old Mercado da Ribeira”, the “Mercado Ferreira Borges” is today used for exhibitions and fairs of a wide range of activities. cultural. The Ferreira Borges Market has been classified as a Property of Public Interest since the year 1982. Located next to the “Palácio da Bolsa”.
The market today no longer serves as a municipal market, it is currently being operated by private parties. This is better known as Hard Club, and serves as a cultural space. It hosts concerts, exhibitions, book and music fairs, and also serves as a studio, and as a restaurant. Public underground parking just in front of the building.

This is an easy to navigate functional railway station, not as grand as Sao Bento. But is the station to catch the Alfa Pendular trains.

This is an interesting modern building in Porto that we drove by on a tour of Porto with Viking River cruises. It made for an interesting photo but I doubt that it was worth stop.

We toured the Torre de D. Pedro Pitoes, while visiting the Sé Cathedral in mid-September. While it appeared to be in keeping with the Cathedral, and other buildings in the area, our driver/guide informed me that it was a “replica.” The original had been “lost,” and it was not until some demolition in the area allowed for it to be “discovered,” that notice was even made of this primarily defensive tower. It was “restored” in 1994, as part of major reclamation, and restoration project in the Bairro da Sé. Well, that restoration was very effective, as the Torre blended in perfectly with the surrounding buildings.

As a defensive structure, I could readily understand its importance, sitting atop a steep hill, it could be used to guard the near-by Sé Cathedral.

Now, the Torre houses the Sé Social and Cultural Center, so visitors to the Cathedral and its surrounding grounds and courtyard, can gain important information. Once, it stood to repulse invaders, and now it stands to welcome visitors.

I highly recommend the Torre de D. Pedro Pitoes as part of any exploration of the Cathedral, and the surrounding area for two reasons – though a “restoration/rebuilding” it is historically accurate, and significant, plus it houses a center, which helps make all that one will soon see, more understandable – two purposes, and well accomplished, plus easy to include in any tour of the area.

Stunner of a church. We found it by accident to be honest, sat nav sent me in from the airport this way and I just had to stop for a look.
The bags were in the boot so no pictures! A pity but take my word for it, this parish church is gorgeous and well worth calling into. It's a little way out from the centre but as I said, well worth it.
The facade has the beautiful blue tiles synonymous with the city, the I interior is the same with beautiful iconography and decor.
I happened upon it by accident so I have no research done and have no idea of its history. It was open on my visit around midday but even if closed it's worth it for the facade.
What a lovely introduction to the city of Porto!
