What travelers are saying
- NazandkateWitham, UK297 contributionsGreat view point and also the metro at the top.
I think alot of people get caught whilst in porto with the hills but remember if you are in porto for a while. It maybe worth getting the cable car pass along with the metro pass just to help with the walkingWritten June 29, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Martin HHong Kong, China548 contributionsFor many this is the key attraction in Porto and it is a very popular area with lots of restaurants crammed on the water front and consequently packed with tourists.
Walk a few streets up the hill away from the waterfront and you'll be rewarded with much narrower, older, traditional streets.Written June 27, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - CMansonBucharest, Romania20 contributionsthis stones, this walls, for sure its crownded at the entrance and in the gardens ahead, but its worth the waiting.Written June 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Morgan Field5 contributionsVery pleasantly surprised by the breadth of interest from this tour, particularly . The depiction of the history of the club and its place in the Community in the brilliantly designed and atmospheric Museum was genuinely fascinating for all of us (ages 22 to 62) ..... so much so we nearly missed the start of the Stadium walk-round.
Even if you've only got a passing interest in football this visit's well worth it !!
Dead easy to get there on the metro too .... straight opposite the station exit.Written June 20, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - triplover028910 contributionsExcellent view of the whole city from the up. Going to the tower you are allowed to see some other things and get to know the history of the Clerigos church and other monuments. If you are really lazy it's not necessery for you to go there but anyway I thinks it's worth it.Written June 24, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Allan CIpswich, UK508 contributionsImposing in both its position and its structure the cathedral can be seen from all over Oporto. It is not your average Catholic cathedral, being much more autere in design and decoration but as we have said about other places none the worse for that. Internal decoration again is subdued but for us there was a real sense of devotion and piety lacking in some of the more garish manifestations of the genre. With gentle orgam music contrasting with the busker saxophist outside who seemed only to know Griegs "Morning" this was quite a moving experience.Written May 15, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- TigertribalCraigavon, UK984 contributionsThe 2 churches are separated by a very narrow house, inhabited until the 1980's.
The house was built so that the 2 churches would not share a common wall & to prevent any relations between the nuns of Igreja dos Carmelitas & the monks of Igreja do Carmo.
You can visit the 2 churches, catacombs, the narrow house etc.
Of note is the portal behind the statue of Christ so you could kiss his foot.
Admission €3.50 pp.Written June 14, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Martin HHong Kong, China548 contributionsThis is one of the more beautifully tiled churches on the outside. It's not very big inside.
Try to see it during both the day and at night when its lit up as it photographs very well at both times.
Its right next to the Bolhao metro exit.Written June 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - johnMontreal, Canada16 contributionsplease when visit this places make silence and dont act like you own the place, have some respect and pray.Written June 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Thomas VOakland, CA13,133 contributionsThis will surely be on your walkabout in Porto because you will want to spend some time along the pretty river. Lots of fun here with cafes and restaurants and some good buskers with music. Some not so good too.Written May 20, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Thomas VOakland, CA13,133 contributionsThe Metro construction did indeed damage the perspective of this city center square, but it is grand with the City Hall at one end and a big statue in the middle. Major streets pass through it. Lots of big banks around and some big cafes. Very historic.Written May 20, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- KOTA KBucharest, Romania142 contributionsA typical Portuguese street, unfortunately only shops that you meet everywhere, and nothing authentic ...Written June 24, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- alohatripperHonolulu, HI1,323 contributionsWe joined a Portuguese language tour since our guide Jorge was allowed to translate in English. I've never seen a music hall on this scale. I've visited opera houses which are basically two parts -- a stage and an audience section. This one is truly avant-garde with multiple practice rooms, a room just for children, and a magnificent stage.
It is a wonder for music performance buffs, but it is of limited interest for those into just music appreciation.

It is lined with restaurants and traditional shops in historic buildings. This street really has, kind of a 19th century bourgeois feeling with old colorful buildnings adorned with many coat of arms and beautiful wrought iron balconies. Here is also the church Igreja de Misericordia with magnificent baroque facade. A picturesque street clearly.Written March 4, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- TigertribalCraigavon, UK984 contributionsInteresting 15th Century church, the interior entirely decorated with wood carvings.
Recently reopened after extensive restoration work, there is a video you can watch to see the painstaking work.
