A wonderfully rich day led by Chef Vitor. The market was impressive, and we learned about a variety of seafood. The kitchen spacious and well suited to a group of 8. We prepared, cooked, ate, drank, shared stories and left full and relaxed.

My boyfriend and I wanted to start a new tradition : take cooking class when travelling to get the local experience at its fullest. We started this tradition with Joanna's cooking class to learn how to make Pasteis de Nata. And what a way to start the tradition! We had the best time and learn so much not only about Pasteis de nata but also about pastry! She would explain so softly and kindly the steps to follow and why to follow them this way and in this order. It made so much sense and I feel like it gave everyone a lot of confidence about themselves being able to bake.
We highly recommend if you are looking 1) for a different travelling experience in Porto and 2) if you want to eat the best pastel de nada in town ;).

Nuno was a wonderful host for our cooking lesson. Meeting a local and being invited into their home to prepare a meal was relaxing and rewarding. Just like catching up with an old friend for dinner. This was a great dive into Portuguese culture and history. We had the pork with garlic and wine sauce, with several delicious appetizers and a fantastic dessert that we made from scratch.

Rui "the chef" was a lot of fun and made the whole experience wonderful. We all got to be part of the chopping and messing about while we learned how to cook up a delicious lunch. It was easy to find and it made our stay in Porto even more fun. If you like to cook, learn new recipes and enjoy being with others while you create, this is for you. Both my cousin and I enjoyed it immensely.

Davide has a vast knowledge of port, it’s history and the differences between them. My whole family deeply enjoyed the port tasting. Highly recommend!

A fantastic experience that I, my mother, and my 3 kids truly enjoyed. Joana was a great hostess and teacher and the dessert was the best I’ve had while in Portugal. It was fun meeting people from different parts of the world and we all enjoyed being a part of the baking process. I highly recommend this activity!!

My husband and I booked the cooking experience as an anniversary present and it didn't disappoint! We met Catia at the market and she showed us all the wonderful produce it has to offer, including some free samples ☺️

She the drove us to her beautiful home where we were able to prepare, cook and eat some amazing Portuguese food, which of course included Nata's. It was a highlight of our trip to Porto and thoroughly enjoyed every minute!

My family and I had a very special evening of cooking, wine tasting and conversation with Vitor and Paula. We have many food allergies and Vitor crafted a wonderful meal around all of them! Delicious appetizers of cheese, olives and roasted sausage, paired with a lovely white wine. Followed by hands on preparing of the veggies (onions, squash, cauliflower, peppers, cilantro, carrots, and rice). A great stock is the secret to great including thst fish head saved from another dish. The seabass was chopped and shrimp devained.

All along we had a great conversation about cooking, life, Portuguese history and more. Delicious dinner and a wonderful evening.

Topped off with a sheep curd and tomato jam dessert. This is my new go to surprise for guests.

I highly recommend Cooking in Ribeira for a great private or public class.

I bought a ticket and I went there and there was no one there! A waste of time and money, don’t go there.

The activity sounded great but the organizers canceled it twice at the last moment…
Unfortunately really disappointing as we had to organize our week twice differently at the last moment…
At the moment, the activity hasn’t been reimbursed yet but payed twice.

Was frankly disappointed as you don’t really make Pastel, you watch someone make them who describes the steps as she goes. You do get a very good idea of the difficulty of the process but there was perhaps 10 minutes of actual hands on during the two hours, which was shaping the pastry which each person did individually. All else was by the chef. The Pastels made were quite delicious. This was more like watching a cooking show than actual baking.

Our chef Sandy was great -- my wife is the real cook in the family (I'm good on the grill, but not in the kitchen), but neither of us knew much of anything about Asian cooking. Sandy led us through the preparation of many different dishes (five or six in all), and then we had a nice time cooking and eating what we had prepared. Sandy was great to talk to about life in Hong Kong. A fun evening well spent!
