I am not really into football and am not Ronaldo’s biggest fan however, 5 euros gets you in and keeps you busy for an hour.
The man knows how to play football, so many awards, trophies, medals, cups etc… incredibly talented and yes the large statue out the front does have a certain shiny area where people have rubbed it 🤣

A bit difficult to find but we really enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and helpful. It wasn't very busy and we had a lovely couple of hours. It's fun for adults or children and a good idea for when it's raining or you wast a chill out.

You must stop by this store in Funchal! Their art is beautiful and the staff are so friendly and helpful. I wish I could have bought one of their beautiful paintings, but I got a couple of small trinkets that I absolutely adore.

Interesting type of museum. I found the first section very interesting. This is on the history and people of Madeira starting and finishing whaling. If you know what whaling is you should not be shocked.
The second section on the animals is interesting but in parts very "preachy" about human actions on the sea and planet. Bit of a switch off.
The cafe was fine and you can sit out on the balcony.

As it only cost 5 euros each it was worth going on a sunless day. Very boring for children though. Not enough interaction for them to get involved in. Improved for
me in second half with film of the old Maderia.

I got a recomandation from a friend and decided to go there. People at the museum are really nice and helpful. You learn a lot about history of banana in Madeira, there are also pictures and videos which I found entertaining. After the museum the path leads you to banana field where you can find a little bar and shop (there you can try banana chips, banana beer…).

Very interesting small.museum. The staff in the main.house aren't the most welcoming but contents of the house are stunning. Has some good exhibitions too

The rum produced at this distillery is excellent, I liked how they give you access to see how the juice from the sugar cane is extracted. And there is a fabulous coastal walk right beside the distillery. Will definitely visit again when in Madeira.

A collection of different memorabilia from a former minister of tourism. Totally fascinating in the choice of collectibles.

We visited after a stop in Santana, our kids enjoyed it (2,4 and 6)

Eldest was distraught at the short amount of time she got to drive the radio controlled boat, and was asking for her euro back. I told her there were no refunds and that it was a valuable lesson in value for money. Two minutes was very stingy when we were the only people there.

The cinema experience was cheeky too, we paid (adults) €7 each to basically watch an advert for all the fun things to do in Madeira.

The AFrame houses were cute and we got some fun photos of the kids in those and on a giant banana.

The farm bit was odd. All of the ladies on the site were very polite and welcoming, the guy running the farm was not a people person. He also didn’t seem to care much about the chickens, many of which, including the cockerel, which was limping and appeared to have bumble foot, had feathers missing down to bare skin. Rabbits, goats and ostriches seemed in better condition, but the ostriches had no space to run, which is sad.

Large parts of the site were shut. Overall worth a visit with young children, but needs a bit of work.

We returned to see if there had been improvements since our last visit a year ago. The gardens on the whole remain very well maintained and the lofty trees, the shrubs and flower beds were in good condition and a pleasure to wander in and just sit and enjoy.
The orchid area at the top of the gardens had evidently received some good attention, pots were weed-free and only good specimens retained. Larger ornamental containers were also looking better. Sadly the wooden frame shading the whole area has not been repaired, with many broken slats making it look uncared for still. Maybe just a question of time or it could be a cost thing of course. But 30 seconds less of end of year fireworks might have paid for the restauration, making the Quinta das Cruces and its otherwise superb gardens once more one of the jewels in Funchal’s crown. Something to look forward to in 2024…

The bar they have is absolutely wonderful, this is our 4th time in Madeira, and the best Poncha we have ever had was right Gere made by Andrade ! He is very great for intellectual conversations ,well mannered & gave us great tour of the restaurant, bar & design center. We highly recommended that place & bar especially to anyone looking to have nice afternoon in Madeira with absolutely the best views of Funcal! Will definitely return!!!

Half hour enough unless very interested in looking at the old photographs. Much bigger place than it looks, large rooms with exhibits, mainly photos but some equipment of the era and beyond.
Lockers were a requirement for bags. Not really sure why, not much if anything to knock over, but was free.
7 minute (B&W of course) film show with English subtitles, tourism back in the day, the toboggans were a thing for tourists even back then.
There is a cafe at the back of the entrance courtyard.

Having visited the cathedral, this was an obvious next port of call. I thought it was absolutely superb over a couple of floors, with the viewing area of central Funchal at the top level. The combination of Flemish works and Portuguese/Madeiran art worked really well.
I thought it was well worth the entrance fee, given the number of paintings and artifacts available. Certainly, a Must Do on any visit to Funchal.
