This is an ideal “first time” levada as it is a fairly short walk - it took me about 40 minutes round trip - mostly on level wooded ground and offers fantastic views across the valleys.

A very special spot in Madeira: From here you can see far over the Transatlantik Ocean, to your right a bird's view of Funchal harbour, to your left a far view of the Eastern part of the Madeiran South Coast.
We saw the statue as part of a tour and were impressed, there are fantastic views along the coast and the cable car down to the beach is fun and good value at €3 return.

these gardens were just 1 euro entry, just came upon it from walking, and what a surprise, they are so beautiful and well kept with the advantage of wonder full views over funchal bay, highly recommended.
There is also an unlimited view of the harbour and the old city.

It has an interesting history which was explained well but the highlight of the tour was the tower where you can sample a glass of Madeira while admiring the 360 views.
The finale is a visit to the tower with a 360 view of Funchal with the guide providing information on certain landmarks, we were again given a glass of Madeira wine.
