What travelers are saying
- AdamFort Lauderdale, FL1,479 contributionsLisbon has so many beautiful castles and churches but it some point you become castled out. This offers a great reprieve and it is worth a visit. The number of fish and sea creatures are too many to count. You also get a sense they are well cared for and the aquarium is first class.Written May 20, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- AnouckBerlicum, The Netherlands4 contributionsWe went with a tourguide through alfama. Little streets but very cozy. On top a beautifull view! Would recommend to go there!Written May 20, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- babykongLondon, UK417 contributionsThe receptionist at my hotel said that this was the only tourist attraction in Lisbon that he would pay to get in to - and I totally agree! Such a beautiful building with lots of intricate details.
You can buy your tickets in advance online, or buy at the venue.
Be warned though, as there’s two queues for tickets (one for the monastery and one for the museum). Then there’s another queue further along for entrance into the monastery.
I saw a lot of people waiting in line at the entrance, only to be turned away at the door, as they’d mistakenly assumed they were in line for ticket purchases.
Once you exit the monastery, you can then visit the exquisite church adjacent to the monastery.
Definitely worth visiting both of these beautiful attractions.Written May 22, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Chuck EWashington DC, DC49 contributionsExcellent collection. Well displayed with good lighting. Quite a few longer explanation in English (and Portguese, presumably). As with most museums, the individual explanation cards were small and hard to read without getting very close, but the longer explanations on the wall were easier to access and were very helpful.
Garden was not worth visiting, partially because of nearby construction of additional museum facilities.Written May 21, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - MariamanhDoha, Qatar679 contributionsA must if you are into art in general and islamic art on specific. - markitikiOrlando, FL630 contributionsGreat neighborhood to wander through during the day, but really comes to life at night. Younger crowd and great restaurants as well as unique bars scattered throughout.Written May 14, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Traveller of the world1,115 contributionsShopping, tourist attractions, restaurants, coffee shops, nightlife and more! Busy and fun. Lively and lot's to do. Has a great atmosphere with lot's of character. Just be careful in isolated roads late at night or early morning. There are some sketchy characters around. I was offered drugs a few times in the middle of the day! Fine otherwise.Written April 18, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Thomas VOakland, CA12,719 contributionsThis is a brand new and very large art museum with all the contemporary artists you know and lots of masterpieces. Large and beautiful display space, never feels crowded. Beautiful garden with sculpture and views of Belem. Good food venues.Written April 15, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- WorldTravellerSoonCanada302 contributionsWe came to Parque das Nacoes on a Thursday afternoon. The area was not busy at all. It is a nice and modern area in Lisbon, which has a huge contrast from the old historic vide of Alfama.
The previous Expo site can be easily accessed with metro red-line, train or bus. It is also next to the Vasco de Gamma Mall and Oceanarium.
We walked along the Tagus River and enjoy looking at the Expo site and world flags. We also took a cable car to see the river and the area from a different angle. It was such an enjoyable visit.Written April 29, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - WorldTravellerSoonCanada302 contributionsWe planned to go to Feira da Ladra, National Pantheon, St Vincent Church, St George Castle and Lisbon Cathedral on a single day. It didn't work on one day :)
We came to National Pantheon after we visited the flea market. The entrance fee was 5 Euro. It is a bit expensive as I thought it was a church and it should be free of charge. It is no longer used as a worship place. Nevertheless it is worthwhile to see the interior and go to the terrace to see the city. You are not allowed to take picture until you pay the entrance fee.
The interior of the building is stunning with lots of amazing design and stone work. The floor the building is made of stone / marble. It has a symmetrical design and many people put their smart phones on the center of the floor to take pictures. We were the same.
We climbed a lot of stairs to the gallery and tried to walk around to see the interior. However, my knees felt weak because of the height. I walked about 1/3 around the circle and had to give up. We walked around the terrace several times for the panoramic view of the city. It is worth every penny of the entrance fee.Written April 29, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - rngmibellZephyr Cove, NV26 contributionsHusband and I had a great time sampling beer and checking out the vendors wares. Some a little pricey, some we had seen exactly the same offerings cheaper elsewhere. But for sure worth a spin if you find yourself in the area on a Sunday.Written May 17, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
