This modern building is a calm oasis away from the tourism bedlam surrounding it. There is an excellent coffee shop (a little hard to find but worth seeking out) and the art gallery is a great art space with many leading artists works on display. Picasso, Man-Ray, Mondrian, Miro, and Francis Bacon are just a few. It's well worth spending a couple of hours here.

I've been living a couple blocks from this place since last December but only just discovered it. It is a public library made from a former palace, and there is free wifi and work/study spaces too. The interior is covered with antique hand painted tiles and the floors are intricate wood designs. Everything is light! There is a terrace that overlooks the garden in the back where there is a shack that sells refreshments. A great place to hide from the crowds, read a book, catch up on your emails or write a blog post! Occasionally they host events in the garden during the better weather months. It is a library, so if you bring children they must be well behaved and quiet.

A laid back bar with the best jams. We would usually go to Anjos70 on afternoon for the fleamarket events etc and stay for the drinks and music at night, very lovely place.

If you like a Berlin-like atmosphere, dogs wandering freely around, a lot of arts and murales on the walls, this place is for you! The site is indeed interesting and quite remarkable for how it has managed to turn a former arm-factory into an art-factory (don't forget to visit the coloured main building, the library, the bar, etc.). A plus is that there is a bus going to the city centre at a stone's throw. YET. 25 euros per night is definitively overpriced for what it offers. Yes, there is a warm shower (but after a steep and half crumbling staircase), and there are places for grey and black waters (a bit of a treasure's hunt to find them, but still, there are). My suggestion is to stay there for one night to get the atmosphere but considering the price I would expect a little bit more of care - and the removal of the pointed remains of metal bars that spring from the concrete floor where you park the van.

It’s an old world kind of joint, full of smoke and atmosphere. People seem to know each other and tourists have not discovered it. Reminded me of the kind of place I lived in my college days but the crowd here is well past university. Recommended
