Very long wait even if you get there early. It has a nice courtyard but not much to see. Use Lisbon card to get in free. The line is long all day unti 4pm. Day we went there was a strike so they closed at 4pm

Beautiful chapel. Nice area with plenty of shops and restaurants. Not very impressive from the outside but much nicer inside.
Accompanying museum OK, quite small, some religious imagery

A place worth visiting. Many famous Portugese heroes have their last resting place here, among them Vasco da Gamma.
Beautyfull church in the old Alfama area of Lisbon.
From the top a great view over Alfama and the river

Impressive architecture for a simple building. It's great to see such craftsmanship for a basic train station. Function and form!

Modern place prepared for Expo 1998. There is a shopping mall, oceanarium near by.
Perhaps a good place to visit during a rainy day. Even walking outside is a fun.

This free experience can be done in 1 to 2 hours and is an excellent way to get out of the sun for a bit or fill gaps in your schedule. Certain exhibits are more engaging than others.

We took a taxi to this area as we intended to visit the oceanarium so thought we'd take a look at the tower and the Vasco De Gama bridge.

It reminded me of a smaller version of the Burj Al Harab in Dubai. A nice place to walk along the river and get a few photos.

Not worth a visit just for this building, but the view of the bridge and visiting somewhere else in the area makes it worth a few hours out of your day.

Very much enjoyed the Monet & Klimt immersive experience. The location is absolutely gorgeous. Must do, especially if you love art.

Though on the route of one of Rick Steves' Lisbon walks, I might have still skipped going in. But our TukTuk driver enthused about it and told the story of how the Marques de Pombal designated the ruins of this Gothic convent as a memorial to the 1755 earthquake. Sort of like the ruins of the old Coventry Cathedral in England. It was a delightful park with an interesting small museum. A nice respite on one of Rick's curated walks.

This church is standing on a hill with an excellent viewpoint right next to it, with sweeping views over the city in general and the castle in particular...I only could check out the exterior of the church, it was unfortunately locked :-(

It doesn't look like a palace from outside, and the first floor is tourist info, and other services. You can buy your Lisboa Card here, and every form of public transportation is right outside the door.

Be prepared for a steep climb, or steep decline, if you walk on this narrow charming street. The elevator, which is s cable car, was not working, so we had to struggle. But it was worth it as this is one of the best representatives of old Lisbon. Charming.

I've been living a couple blocks from this place since last December but only just discovered it. It is a public library made from a former palace, and there is free wifi and work/study spaces too. The interior is covered with antique hand painted tiles and the floors are intricate wood designs. Everything is light! There is a terrace that overlooks the garden in the back where there is a shack that sells refreshments. A great place to hide from the crowds, read a book, catch up on your emails or write a blog post! Occasionally they host events in the garden during the better weather months. It is a library, so if you bring children they must be well behaved and quiet.

A very unassuming facade leads to a beautiful Islamic courtyard. The food is decent but not mind blowing but the overall experience of the Islamic/European blend of Portuguese culture is the real appeal of the venue and is definitely worth a visit.

A beautiful little chapel with lovely azulejos and stunning views. We were lucky enough to find it open but worst case, you'd have the amazing view and you could peek inside the bars to see the exterior azulejos.
