Imposing statue in the middle of a roundabout it is worth the time to just stand and watch the traffic manoeuvring around it.

This beautiful equestrian statue is of King Jose I to honour his involvement and capability to restore Lisbon after terrible earthquake in 1755. It's in the middle of huge and popular square . When we visited this place there were some preparation to celebrate public holiday of 25th April.

We sat with the poet outside the cafe that he used to frequent and took some photos. I guess everyone does this. The statue and the poet himself are icons. Very popular area.

Noticed this museum while visiting Belem Tower and glad we did.
Loads of exhibits and plenty to see well worth the 4€ admission price.
Only slight criticism is I wish more of the information was also in English.

This tower is part of the fortifications of the fort that is hgh above the city. You can see why it was built there as the views over the city are amazing.

Located in the center of Praca do Rossio this monument was erected in 1870 dedicated to King Pedro IV. The bronze statue of the king rests atop a 75-foot-tall column, which makes it very difficult to see. Around the base of the column are 4 figures representing Strength, Wisdom, Justice, and Restraint.

Located in the center of Praca dos Restauradores surrounded by calçada portuguesa stands this almost 100-foot-tall monument to commemorate the independence of Portugal from Spanish rule in 1640.
It celebrates all the soldiers who died during the freedom struggle.
Affixed to the pedestal are two angels representing Victory and Independence. Victory is the female facing north and Independence is male facing south. The inscriptions on the monument denote key battles and events during the War of Restoration.

Here’s an idea to get the most out of your sightseeing in Lisbon.

The tram 15E takes you from downtown to Belem (buy a ticket onboard) - and here you’ll find 4 major sights within a 20 minutes radius.

This impressive water plane - Monumento a Sacadura Cabral

    plus

    - Moisteiro dos Jeronimoes (an even more impressive monastery)
    - Torre de Belem (a pretty little tower in the water)
    - Padrão dos Descobrimentos (a magnificent tribute to the age of discovery)

I bet this trip ends up being some of your best time spent in Lisbon.

This garden is now very big but well constructed with the bigger trees on the outskirts. Large monument / statute in her middle that is quite artistic. See photos.

Big and impressive in the middle of one of the busy squares in the city. It is the focal point of this square. Not an especially pretty statue, but it is grand.

This huge statue the Marquis de Pombal dominates one end of the Avenue da Liberdade. This is by far the most impressive monument on the avenue, as it should be. Sebastiao Jose de Carvalho e Melo, also known as the Marquis of Pombal, was instrumental in completely rebuilding (and redesigning) Lisbon after the devastating earthquake of November 1, 1755.

This memorial, in the church square of Sao Domingos, remembers the estimated up to 4,000 Jews who were killed in the massacre which started on this spot April 19, 1506.
It was dedicated in 2008 and is made from a ½ sphere of stone with an engraved Star of David, in which is the inscription. Upon the base of which the sphere rests upon is an inscription from the book of Job in both Hebrew and Portuguese.
Thank you to google lens for the translation as there is no signage explaining what this monument is.
